We caught up with the brilliant and insightful InrG Official a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
InrG, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
I honestly don’t think I wish to have started sooner rather than later, or vice versa. The idea of my clothing line ‘INRG Clothing’ was already premeditated as I always wanted a brand of my own to represent my image, authenticity, and name in the proper likeness.
I was 25, having just received my second executive promotion of the 2022 calendar year, when I finally began to take steps towards launching my clothing line / brand. I tapped in with a local design / marketing team in San Antonio led by Kellz On The Keys, in which we discussed brand ideas, my background, and other artists/brands that have influenced me creatively over the years.
I decided on a catchy domain name inrgofficialworld.com and proceeded to brainstorm merch design ideas , as well as a brand logo, to really bring the brand and vision to life.
From there, I worked with the design team to come up with three options for the initial mock ups. Once coming to a consensus on the favored designs, updating the site with official bio information and creative content / links, we launched the site, hence beginning to sell.
Looking back, I believe I started at the perfect time. I had just released my debut single ‘Bounce Back’ which was catching waves around instagram / YouTube, as well as being isolated in a new state stemming from my corporate promotion. With the addition of dealing with a few acute personal / family issues, I used that time period to get more serious on where I wanted to take my artistic career and how I wanted to introduce my brand to the world.
As I continued to lock in, my ideas began to flow. My discipline and consistency ramped up tenfold, and the results I began to see not only business wise, but also personally were too significant to ignore.
Perhaps starting the process of building my brand sooner or later may not have hit the same, as I would not have been in the same position which gave me no other choice than to go all in or go home.
InrG, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
If you don’t know of me (yet), you may have read articles and/or interviews of mine in the past conducted by me with some of your favorite artists.
I got my feet into the Rap Game by being a lead writer and content producer for the HipHopApproved magazine back in 2015. From there, I’d continue to build creative relationships with more notable artists, which would eventually lead to ventures such as ghostwriting records for artists and assisting with single releases / album rollouts.
These days, I’m still engaging in executive corporate work, running my INRG Clothing line, assisting other creatives in marketing/press /overall social growth, while also managing a vastly growing instagram platform.
I work with anyone from upcoming artists and start ups, brand owners/label executives, to C level corporate clients and/or most commercial inquiries.
My services typically include:
– Posting Schedule
– Content Creation Ideas
– Marketing / Promotional Strategies
– Press Coverage
– Social growth / Niche building
– Community
I’m most proud of my resiliency and hustle. With those two traits, as well as God’s grace, I’ve been able to take life’s punches and use that pain as motivation to go harder on my journey to success.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media and I have had a love/hate relationship. Truly, I don’t believe I’d be as heavy a user of social applications like instagram, Facebook, etc. if it weren’t for the absolute need to brand / market / promote content – specifically pertaining to consistent growth.
In my experience, then and now, authenticity and originality are top tier. Mix that with relatability, quality over quantity, as well as having a clear message, and you’ll be giving yourself a fair shot.
Branding is huge as well. It’s the main reason that gets your current/potential followers to have consistent recurring visits to your profile, building healthy anticipation each time for what’s next to come.
Each time you publish a post to your Instagram page (or social media of your choice), the posts should either include a call to action for the audience, showcase what’s next to come, and/or promotional strategy (I.e. rollout, album cover, website launch, etc).
It is important to note that social media is a place that focuses more on how you post something versus what you post; how you say something versus what you’re actually saying.
With that being said, your posts should be exceptionally thought out, include a relevant message as it relates to your brand, well captioned, and edited to fit the overall aesthetic look of your page.
Additionally, you should use appropriate hashtags per post and actively engage with other creators / influencers within and outside of your niche. Doing this will allow you to maximize your potential reach per post , while also building up organic traffic that should translate to continuous growth.
Lastly, you should be having fun with the content you’re creating , and it is important that your audience sees that consistently conveyed with each post.
When you love what you do, not only will you continue to do it, but others will feel more inclined to support you when your passion is made clear and felt.
Be active. Be consistent. Be yourself.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I have an official website inrgofficialworld.com in which consumers, fans, etc can join my newsletter for updates on my upcoming gigs, view and order INRG merchandise, read about my background, and view all music videos and/or press photos.
