We were lucky to catch up with Indigo Pyles recently and have shared our conversation below.
Indigo, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a customer that you appreciate them?
The best way I’ve found to show clients how much I appreciate them is by providing truly individualized care. In a world where many wellness and beauty services can feel rushed and standardized, I want every person who lays on my treatment table to feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for as an individual.
I value every face I get to treat, but more importantly, the person who has chosen to trust me with their care. I show this appreciation through thoughtful consultations, opening each session with breathwork and intention setting, customizing care, and intuitive touch. No two sessions are ever the same because no two people arrive with the same needs.
One experience that stands out was a guest who arrived experiencing high emotional stress causing vertigo. Rather than following a standard facial protocol, I adjusted the entire session to support what she needed most in that moment. Through grounding touch, breath, and a slower pace, I focused first on helping her feel safe and regulated in her body to metabolize and move through her emotional state. At the end of the treatment, she was calm, her skin inflammation had visibly decreased, and she thanked me for helping her feel safe, supported, and nourished. She also noted that her care felt very personal and felt like just what she needed in that moment.
To me, client appreciation isn’t about offering something extra—it’s about being fully present to another person’s humanity. When clients realize they are being met exactly where they are, whether in a season of stress, grief, healing, or joy, they feel valued beyond the service they’re receiving. That’s the experience I hope everyone leaves with.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Indigo, and I am a licensed esthetician in Nashville, Tennessee. I specialize in holistic facial treatments using Botnia Skincare, a professional plant-based line that allows me to customize every treatment and meet the skin in the moment with the care it needs. Rather than following a rigid protocol, I view each facial as a collaborative experience between practitioner, client, and skin.
I currently facilitate my offerings inside Haus of Sovereign, a collective of clinical, spiritual, and somatic therapists. This container is deeply collaborative, and it is common for clients to receive support from multiple practitioners as they explore healing through different modalities. Being part of a space that values whole-person care aligns deeply with my philosophy that wellness cannot be separated into isolated parts.
I have always been passionate about skin and the experience of care. I created these offerings out of a felt need for spaces that go beyond surface-level skincare, where caring for the skin becomes an act of reverence for the self. While healthy skin is certainly a goal, I believe the experience of being cared for is equally important.
This motivation came from my own experiences receiving facials. Many treatments produced beautiful results, but what stayed with me long after the glow faded was how I felt. Presence, communication, safety, and genuine attention were what transformed a treatment into a meaningful experience. Those values have become foundational pillars of my practice.
My work combines botanical skincare with therapeutic touch modalities such as facial sculpting, buccal massage, lymphatic drainage, and nervous system-informed care. I often work with clients who feel overwhelmed by the skincare industry, are experiencing skin sensitivity or imbalance, or simply crave a slower and more intentional approach to wellness. My goal is to help people reconnect with their skin rather than battle against it.
What sets my work apart is that I view the face as part of a larger system. The skin reflects not only topical care, but also stress, lifestyle, emotional wellbeing, and overall health. My treatments are designed to support both the skin and the nervous system, creating space for restoration, regulation, and nourishment.
What I am most proud of is creating an environment where people feel genuinely seen and cared for. Whether someone comes to me for acne, inflammation, aging concerns, tension held in the face and jaw, or simply a moment to rest, I want them to leave feeling supported more connected to themselves than when they arrived.
The most important thing I want people to know about my work is that skincare does not have to be rooted in perfection. I am not interested in helping people chase flawless skin. I am interested in helping people cultivate a relationship with their skin that is grounded in understanding, compassion, and care. My hope is that every treatment offers an opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and remember that caring for yourself is a meaningful part of being well.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I do not have a large following by any means. But I am attracting most of my new clientele from socials through my social media presence. My content is centered around creating trust and clarity around the skincare I use, sharing my knowledge, education and helping people feel comfortable in my hands through sharing the experiences I offer.
My advice for anyone just starting out is to focus on being genuine and consistent. Share what you know, show your personality, and create content that you love and that also helps people understand who you are and what you offer. Building trust takes time, but when people feel more connected to you and your values, they are much more likely to become clients.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
One of the biggest influences on my professional philosophy has actually been the skincare brand I partner with, Botnia. Beyond providing products, they have consistently invested in education and have helped build my confidence as both a practitioner and business owner. Their approach has encouraged me to think critically about trends and to always come back to foundational questions: How does this affect the skin and body in the long term? How can I best meet the skin in this moment?
The beauty industry is constantly evolving, and it can be easy to get swept up in trends and quick fixes. What I appreciate about Botnia is that they consistently return to a grounded approach centered on supporting the long-term health of the skin. Their philosophy emphasizes education, customization, and supporting the skin’s innate ability to function and thrive. Through the abundance of trainings and resources they provide, I have learned to view each person’s skin as unique and deserving of individualized care. Their commitment to sustainability, science, and whole-plant ingredients has had a significant impact on how I think about both skincare and facilitating care within a values-driven business.
That philosophy has also shaped how I approach entrepreneurship. Rather than chasing growth at any cost, I am interested in building a practice that is thoughtful, values-driven, and rooted in genuine care. I believe trust is built through consistency, integrity, and a willingness to continue learning, and those are principles that guide both my treatment room and my business as a whole.
