We were lucky to catch up with India Green recently and have shared our conversation below.
India, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Hard work, staying focused and staying true to the goal.
India, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is India Green. I am a wife, mother of three, and the owner of Noir Pearl Spa! I got into this industry based on wanting a career change from the medical field; but then constantly also being told I looked way younger than my age. I figured my young face could be the selling point for facials and getting clients. So I did some research and ended up in esthetician school. I instantly fell in love with everything the estheticain world had to offer. Then learning I could be my own boss was something I was very interested in. Here at Noir Pearl Spa, we offer so many skin, body, and beauty services. They range from waxing, lashes, body sculpting and facials. Our main focus is selfcare and relaxation. I’m most proud of the success and the genuine clientele that I have received since starting my business 5 years ago. I really have gain some great friendships and met some wonderful clients over these past years.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe it started first with just being a black-owned spa. A lot of clients I deal with trying to find someone who looks like or is similar to them to provide services for their needs. Clients want service providers that are relatable and true to themselves. It allows them to feel comfortable and spread the word about your business. Then lastly I pride myself on professionalism. It’s always key to respect your time and the clients.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Setting the standards from the beginning when introducing new staff to your work environment. Treat your staff with respect and let them know they are valued as long as they abide by your work policies. Then always keep a positive work environment.
