We were lucky to catch up with India Graham recently and have shared our conversation below.
India , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Almost every entrepreneur we know has considered donating a portion of their sales to an organization or cause – how did you make the decision of whether to donate? We’d love to hear the backstory if you’re open to sharing the details.
Well, not only am I a multi-talented music artist. I recently started a clothing company that also specializes in spreading the word about what’s going on in Israel right now. It’s very important to me because as a woman who is very close to Yahweh, things are starting to unfold that we all heard about in the Legendary book of Revelations. The clothing is called, P.I.C.I. It stands for “Peace Is Coming to Israel”. I chose this name because Israel is a very peaceful place. However, through my own life experiences, I have come to learn that Jesus is the author of True Peace. I will be donating 10-20% of my sales to the government of the people of Israel to help with housing and flights to get their people to safety.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Primarily, I started out as an R&B and pop artist. I play violin, guitar, and piano since I was about nine years old. I have been singing since I was four with my mom, who was also a professional singer. Later down the line, I became interested in painting and just art in general. I went into the military in 2014 and was released in the summer of 2016. Upon being honorably discharged, I felt it was time to get back to my roots in music. For the past five years, I have been professionally recording and getting paid shows and hosting events ever so often. The most important thing to me is philanthropy. I genuinely care about the well being and safety of those around me, even when things get tough. I don’t run away from danger, I run to it. Which can be dangerous; but that’s why I stay close to Yahweh, our Heavenly Father. I wouldn’t have been able to do any of the things I have accomplished or fought through. I want to make sure I treat his people the way I want to be treated and stay in good standing with him. The salvation he has given all of us, is not to be wasted. That’s why I want to raise awareness of the catastrophic events that are occuring in Israel right now. I will be making more music but it will be way better than what anyone has ever heard me create before. You may even hear some of the production side of me as well. I would like everyone to support this new start up company in hopes that we can provide for Israel, unification and unconditional love like our Father in Heaven has bestowed unto us.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I learned a lot through life experiences. However, had I gotten more into the Bible more early on, I could have avoided some of the horrific things I’ve had to endure. The Bible literally has every single big and little thing you could ever think of or imagine. I encourage everyone to grow closer and feed their spirits with the one true source that we all come through and have to answer to one day. The Bible can also teach you about how to conduct business and how to treat your customers. As stated in Proverbs 16:3 – “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.” When you have created a business idea or you may feel stuck, make sure to share it with God and he will see to it that it will come to pass every time. 2 Corinthians 9:8 states, “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” You cannot fail as long as you consult and put your business around God.
Leviticus 19:13 says, “Do not defraud or rob your neighbor.” ‘Do not hold back the wages of a hired worker overnight.’ If you call yourself a business owner, make sure to give your employees the proper respect and wages that they have earned. Your business will not be successful if you are a tyrant and a thief in the business you are building. If there’s anything you need, ask the Father in the name of Jesus and it shall be granted unto you, as long as you have good intentions and wait for him. Be still.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Honestly, I’ve had to make quite a few pivots in my career. I remember a time when I was attacked and robbed and I had a show the same night. I did not want to show up with a black eye but I did anyway and I actually ended up winning the competition. That’s how I met Dj Epps of Miami; super great guy. I also remember when I became pregnant and I lost my baby due to endometriosis, which actually affects a lot of women. I had to have surgery for ovarian torsion back in 2022. I couldn’t lay down, I couldn’t walk for a long time. I was very afraid that my career was over during that time. It took me almost a year to fully recover and get back on track. Now I feel more healthy than I’ve ever been, all thanks and praise goes to Yahweh. I am truly blessed. I hope to be an inspiration and blessing unto others and encourage them to keep going. Things may be going in a direction where you literally cannot see a way out. Some times, it has to get worse before it gets better. When you’re in a dark time, just remember that Yahweh is the author, creator, and controller of everything in this world and the spiritual realm. Look to him and he shall provide a light for you that no one can take away. He gave me my dreams so it’s important to keep chasing them. Everything will work out on God’s timing. Yahweh is never late.
