We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful India. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with India below.
Hi India, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the story of how you went from this being just an idea to making it into something real.
It all started by taking pictures on my iPhone for people. I remember a maternity photo I took that the mother loved all from my phone and posing. I then ventured out and bought a professional camera and indulged in numerous photography classes. My love for it really came after my wedding. Once I saw my engagement photos and my wedding photos, I knew I wanted to put a smile on other peoples faces and give them the feeling of joy like I felt. It’s truly a moment in time you will never get back. Right then I knew this is what I wanted to do, this was what I was meant to do, and to step out of my comfort zone to start my own business. I was hesitant at first but what did I have to lose? Every since 2019 I have been blessing people with a moment in time. Something they can share for generations to come. That alone makes me so happy and I know I have found my purpose.
India, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Mom, Wife, Scientist, and PhotograpHer! Being that I am in the medical field, photography was an outlet for me. It’s a different scenery, it’s fun, it’s creative. During my journey I have really honed into specializing as a natural light photographer in family, seniors, maternity, portraits, branding and events! Some clients know exactly what they want and some have no idea, which is the best because you can be as creative as you want and they come out amazing! I’m constantly looking for new locations, new content, new backgrounds, the desire to be different and not like the rest of the photographers in the area. My brand is light, bright and vibrant. I do a combination of lifestyle and portraits all in one session. I want my clients to express themselves through the image and also have nice portraits to look back on to spark a smile from a good memory and experience. I get so many compliments on the experience that my clients have with me. I try to make it fun, make them comfortable, and make it an unforgettable experience with also a token of the images to recreate that memory over and over.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
My most effective marketing strategy is word of mouth and reviews! About 80% of my clientele is all from word of mouth! Once I deliver the photo galleries, clients will say my turn around time is unheard of or I did an am aging job and they are telling everyone, etc. my main goal during sessions beside creating beautiful images is also making sure my clients have a fun experience and open up.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
It may sounds cheesy, but the most rewarding aspect of being a photographer is hearing how much my clients love their gallery. Knowing I created something they love, or everything they imagined is my ultimate goal for each and every session. I guess I can say I’m a people pleaser, but the joy they get really gives me fulfillment.
