imTRU, appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?

I can honestly say I’ve always wanted to pursue a music career as a child pursuing music is something ive always been interested in and told myself thats what i want to do and thats what im going to do

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?

I am imTRU a r&b artist out of Mobile, Al and also a musician a drummer i have been singing and playing drums for as long as i can remember i was about 6 playing in church and i actually taught myself how to play and I actually did that for quite a while before eventually singing in the choir and praise team even had the opportunity to dance on a step team in church as well growing up so I’ve always been around music my mother is a musician and gospel singer and thats how i was introduced to it initially going to church with her being right there on the side of her watching and learning and fast forward years later from having alot of singing experience in my family and also singing in choirs all my life it really helped and taught me alot i joined my cousins band where we traveled and performed all over for around 5 years I started as the background singer/ hype man yes hype man lol and eventually becoming the drummer and dj i also know how to dj a bit as well after covid hit i had alot of time off the road to just think and write and here i am now just up on two years as a solo r&b artist and i am enjoying the journey ive had the opportunity to perform at events for iHeart, Sirius XM, and performed at a pre show event for the BET Awards my next big performance will be for SuperBowl Weekend in Arizona and im excited about that i look forward to where my journey will take me next and im ready to embark on the next chapter just make sure you are following imTRU

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect for me is the feeling i get on stage or making music music is such a influence on emotions it can make u happy sad cry and etc but the biggest thing for me is how good you make people feel with your music and how you touch people with your artistry

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

A lesson i had to unlearn is not to let the lack of support you think you dont have affect your drive and chasing after your dream hard work will get you to where you need to be but you have to go above and beyond in order to make those things happen sitting back waiting on support or waiting on people to make you a star wont get you anywhere its all about being built for this are you ?
