We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ime Umoh a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ime, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The story behind my mission is deeply rooted in my experiences growing up as a Nigerian-American in Baltimore, MD. From a young age, my father invested in my siblings and I the beauty of the world by photos, and showing us different parts of the globe, including our home in Akwa-Ibom, Nigeria. These experiences taught me the importance of perspective and embracing different cultures. I have always cherished the memories of traveling and the feelings of looking back to see how far we’ve come.
My journey as a creative professional started when I took a leap of faith in 2018 to travel the world without an elaborate plan. Equipped with a $200 camera and a drone, I set off on a journey that would change my life. As I traveled, I shared my photography and videos online, eventually attracting the attention of travel brands and non-profits who needed help building their brand awareness and online presence. This validation led me to start Push the Button, Creative Studio in 2019 with the goal of helping purpose-driven brands and non-profits show their impact through high-quality storytelling.
Since then, I have had the privilege of working with renowned brands and nonprofits across the globe. Despite the accolades, I recognize that none of this would have been possible if I hadn’t taken that leap. The best is yet to come, and as a Creative Professional, there has never been a better time to create and help businesses show up online through video. I am excited about the future and the opportunities that drones, storytelling, and travel will bring.

My journey began with a leap of faith when I left my corporate career as a Senior Project Manager in the tech industry to travel the world full-time. Growing up in Baltimore and having the opportunity to travel to Nigeria and experience different cultures fueled my passion for storytelling and shifting perspectives and during my travels, I discovered the power of photography and videography in sharing those stories. I founded Push the Button, Creative Studio, to help purpose-driven brands and non-profits show their impact through high-quality storytelling.
Our services include Brand Story Videos, Aerial Video & Photography, and Creative Direction. We specialize in creating content that captures the essence of our clients’ stories and sets them apart from the competition. Our aerial video and photography services provide unique and visually impressive perspectives, while our creative direction ensures that ideas are effectively communicated and executed.

I am most proud of the opportunities I’ve had to travel the world, create meaningful content for our partners, and the lives we have been able to impact through our work. For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist and creative professional is multifaceted. Firstly, it’s the opportunity to create real-world impact with my storytelling and drone photography. Through storytelling, I can evoke emotions, share powerful messages, and inspire people to take action. This ability to make a difference in people’s lives and the world at large is deeply fulfilling.
Secondly, I cherish meeting and interviewing people from all walks of life and sharing their stories. Each individual has a unique perspective, and by capturing and sharing their narratives, I can foster understanding, empathy, and connection among people. This process of uncovering and highlighting the human experience is both fascinating and gratifying.
Thirdly, I am passionate about inspiring the next generation of STEM students and entrepreneurs. As a creative professional, I have the platform to encourage young minds to explore their interests and pursue their dreams. By showcasing the power of innovation, creativity, and perseverance, I hope to positively influence future leaders and change-makers here in Baltimore and beyond..
Lastly, traveling the world and immersing myself in different cultures is an incredibly rewarding aspect of my work. Each new destination and cultural experience expands my perspective and provides valuable insights that inform and enrich my creative process. This constant learning and growth is invaluable not only to me personally but also to the quality and depth of the content I create for my clients and audience.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me has been a combination of networking, word-of-mouth, and continuously sharing my work online. Networking allows me to form connections with potential clients and collaborators, opening doors to new opportunities. These relationships often lead to word-of-mouth referrals, as satisfied clients share their positive experiences with others, creating a ripple effect of new business opportunities.
Additionally, consistently sharing my work online, such as on social media and my website, helps showcase my skills and unique creative style. This online presence not only builds my brand but also serves as a portfolio, allowing potential clients to see the quality and scope of my work. By putting my work out there and nurturing relationships, I’ve been able to steadily grow my client base and expand my creative endeavors.
