We were lucky to catch up with Imari Graves recently and have shared our conversation below.
Imari, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Covid has brought about so many changes – has your business model changed?
Absolutely. The pandemic has given me more clarity when it comes to my business. The time during the shutdown gave me a moment to take a step back and reevaluate how to position my brand in this climate. My ultimate goal has always been to help others. I am grateful for the time to reset and refocus on my brand’s mission.
Imari, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Boss Branding on a Budget LLC is a marketing agency that provides ready-made solutions to help make social media and email marketing easy. We have fantastic clients who’re doing some amazing things in their industries. We focus on building a safe place for entrepreneurs to network and grow.
I’ve worked in the digital marketing space for over five years, managing social media, creating content, and memberships management for startups.
I launched my blog in 2016 and didn’t have the funds to invest in it. So I immediately began to think of ways to monetize my blog without spending tons of money.
Through affiliate marketing and influencer campaigns, I managed to earn income to launch my t-shirt brand. Then, during the pandemic, I decided to pivot from blogging and launched Boss Branding on a Budget.
I launched this brand because I have a natural love for marketing. I’ve taken the tools and resources learned in corporate and applied them to my business. Boss Branding on a budget helps other small business owners who look like me scale and create systems for their brands.
We provide the knowledge needed to have a successful brand without breaking the bank. One thing that makes us unique is that we offer opportunities for bosses to build brand awareness inside our community. We provide speaking opportunities, the ability to promote your brand, and networking events.
The goal is to become a hub for women bosses to collaborate and connect.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Recently, video content has been the best method for growing my clientele. However, I love connecting with my audience via live conversation. So I host virtual events and panel discussions. I think it’s an excellent habit to chat with your audience to get to know their needs.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
When managing your team, it’s good to have regular check-ins. Not only about work but check in to see how they are doing personally. My team is currently virtual, so I add benefits by granting them access to all my products and training sessions to help them develop and learn more about how to be successful future business owners.
