We recently connected with Imara Amour and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Imara thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
My most meaningful project as for right now is my album “Pout it up” My whole purposed of the album is to lift people’s energy and make them want to get up from their seats and start dancing. I wanted to create songs to celebrate and experience a good time of feeling motivation and confidence. My album talks about different experiences I had but that could also relate to everyone. It also has a mix of Spanish lyrics in between songs because I want to represent who I am and have a blend of my cultures.

Imara , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name“ Imara Amour” is my actual first name “Imara” and Amour means Love. My middle name is “IyariAikutsi” which means “heart of the dessert” my dad name me that because he said I’m always going to be the one to lift everyone from the rain . So I name myself “Imara Amour” because I always try to bring joy and love to every situation. Being a music artist is definitely been a up and down process. Music has and is always in my heart. I am here to entertain and motivate people. I have been around music my whole life. My parents raised me in the music industry as my father was a musician, song writer/poet. My mom was also passionate about music but was a stylist and painter. Which was great because as a artist I love to represent not just my music but my fashion. My parents definitely guide me in the direction of becoming a music artist. They have always supporting me since day one and taught me to create and inspire others. Being an only child gave me a lot of motivation to always create. Not just to keep me busy but to make me a better person by letting my thoughts and emotions out since I had no siblings to share them with. After my parents separated and my mom and I move to Los Angeles. Inglewood to be specific. My taste and genre of music definitely grew. I explored more with rap, hip hop and Spanish urban pop, which felt like that was more of my style. Since I always been a writer and loved to write poetry, rapping for me was right up my alley. Growing up I was definitely a quiet girl , due to knowing I was an only child . I always felt very alone and afraid to expressed myself when feeling down. Therefore, I learn to express my self thru music and art. My mother has always thought me to be strong and to have a good energy everywhere I go. Which overtime I learned to perfect and made myself known for always being the girl that has a good vibe and positive attitude with everyone. I didn’t officially release music until 2020. I had met my producer back in 2018. He helped me get in the direction I needed of becoming a music artist and I got signed to a independent label and continued from there. I was going thru some hard times in my personal life as well as dealing with Covid which affected everyone worldwide. Depression took over a lot of us but I turn that into a positive and felt it was a perfect time to reveal my music to the world since music helped me get by each day . Although my first release singe “Rainy night “was more R&B and my song talks about love and a break up. People that knew me were very surprised as they knew I am a person to never show my weak side and people we’re definitely expecting something with more of a positive message from my song. But we all go thru our life experiences and I had to let that out for myself to bring me back to Imara Amour . The outgoing girl that is always trying to make everyone laugh and have a good time with. So,I decided to focus on making songs to lift people up from feeling down. So my album “Pout it up” was created. I said to myself I want people to feel the passion, joy, and confidence from me in this album. I want my music to automatically change your mood and lift you up, turn up with me and enjoy yourself each day because we only live once and we have to enjoy every moment. I want to continue to grow as an artist to impact people to knowing that everything is possible. Follow your dreams and don’t let no one stop you from reaching them. Live your best life. We only live once.

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I think non-creatives will struggle to understand me as a person. Due to things I say in my lyrics. Like my songs from my album “Pout it up” my motive is to lift people from feeling down and because my music fits the mood of a celebrating or a party sene. I believe that a lot of people can confused me and imagine me as to be a girl that party all the times and doesn’t care about what going on in the world. But that is not what I’m representing. I want people to understand that we work hard for what we have and we all have and deal with problems in our lives. But my goal is to motivate and make you forget for a moment of two and live a title because we have to remember to enjoy life. Become stronger and motivate ourselves to keep going and to grow in a matter of success by feeling confident and reaching your goals . Being an only child. I didn’t have siblings to look up to or motivate me. I had my mother that played all roles but you still want to share some experiences with your brothers and sisters that are not your parents. I never had that so I had to always lift myself up and learn on my own. So my goal is to be the one to help others cheer up and build confidence.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is to have the ability of reaching your voice and making more people listen. You have the ability to help more in the world and to send messages that can help the world be a better place.
