We recently connected with Imani Woodard and have shared our conversation below.
Imani, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Ive known I wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career since I escaped the womb. There was no doubt I would be working in a creative field. Even though I do have analytical aspects to my personality, I’ve always found joy in being creative with fashion and more specifically creating stories with fashion. I could finally put a career with its name when I took some of my family members on as my first ever Personal Styling clients! Back then being my client consisted of round-the-clock fashion advice, and pro bono personal shopping, but all of the experience I gained with my family allowed me to finally know exactly what I wanted to be… a Fashion Stylist.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am an image and clothing designer. I help brands and clients create their brand image via fashion styling. Ive been a stylist since birth, I may not have known the title but styling is in my blood. I have worked with start-up brands all over the USA to create looks that will resonate with brands’ customer base. Being that I am a clothing designer as well, I am able to offer a well verse approach to helping brands create an image that will stand out. For my personal styling clients I offer a therapeutic fashion experience that allows clients to re-discover themselves through fashion, and re-align themselves with their new fashion goals.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I was enrolled for a good 5 months in Youtube University and all things to build my mindset. I looked into influencers like 19keys, Blackmagik363, Tony Robbins, Jay Shetty, Yahki Awakened, Billy Carson, Joe Dispenza, and many others to tap into new metaphysical information to reprogram my brain. Tapping into the influencers allowed me to find a new way of thinking, then I began to read books like The Alchemist, Rich Dad Poor Dad, Atomic Habits, The Four Agreements, Power of Focus, and the One Thing, and Self Discipline to begin creating the habits of a successful person.
One thing creatives must know is that you HAVE to release all the mental junk society feeds us, to be able to reach a new level. You must tap into new thoughts, new brain functions, new routines to become the empty vessel you need to be to be able to bring creations to life in the first place.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The biggest goal that’s driving my creative journey, is my desire for my family to have a stake in something for generations to come.
