We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Imani Watson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Imani below.
Imani, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
When I think about my legacy, I think about the lives touched, the mindset shifts sparked, and the faith restored. Imani Mone’t Enterprise, LLC—and everything that flows from it, including Rare Creations by Imani—is more than a business. It’s a movement built on purpose, creativity, and faith.
I want people to say, “She reminded me that I could do it—that I didn’t have to compromise my values to walk in excellence.” I hope to be remembered as someone who gave her all to inspire others, especially young women and dreamers, to chase God-sized goals with grace and confidence. That’s what drives me—not just success, but significance.
I also want people to say, “She showed me that grace and greatness could go hand in hand.” That you could walk in excellence, remain rooted in your values, and still reach new heights. I hope to be remembered as a trailblazer—not because of how young I earned my master’s degree or the accomplishments attached to my name, but because I used every gift God gave me to uplift others.
My legacy isn’t just about what I built—it’s about how I helped others become in the process. It isn’t found in titles—it’s found in testimonies. In the hearts of those who found hope again, who dared to dream again, and who believed that their calling mattered. I want to be remembered as a light, a vessel, and a voice that made people believe again—believe in themselves, in their vision, and in the power of walking boldly in their purpose.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Imani, the founder of Imani Mone’t Enterprise, LLC, a faith-driven brand that includes Rare Creations by Imani, an exclusive clothing line available at ShoprarecreationsbyImani.com, and the author of Pray and Get to the Goal in Grace. My entrepreneurial journey began at an early age, starting with baking cupcakes in middle school, which quickly became a community favorite.
I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Business Administration from Johnson & Wales University by age 21 and became a first-time homeowner at 22. While I’m proud of these milestones, the accomplishment I hold most dear is the release of my debut book, Pray and Get to the Goal in Grace, written in 2023. It reflects my journey and serves as a testament to the power of faith and determination.
Through Imani Mone’t Enterprise, I aim to empower others—especially young women and dreamers—to walk in purpose, faith, and confidence. Everything I create, from my book to my clothing line, is designed to inspire and uplift those who need it most. I believe in blending grace and greatness, using every opportunity to share the message that you don’t have to compromise your values to achieve your dreams.
Guided by the wisdom of Jeremiah 29:11, I’m building a legacy of faith, purpose, and boldness, one that helps others embrace their calling and live with confidence.
We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
I currently sell through both my official website, ShoprarecreationsbyImani.com, and Amazon. Each platform plays a unique role in how I connect with my audience and deliver my products.
My website offers a fully branded experience where I have complete control over how my work is presented. I’ve made it a priority to make each purchase feel personal—especially with my book, Pray and Get to the Goal in Grace. When someone orders directly through my site, I make sure to autograph each copy and include an uplifting, handwritten message. It’s my way of creating a more meaningful and memorable experience.
Amazon, on the other hand, offers a level of convenience and accessibility that many readers appreciate. While I’m unable to personalize those orders in the same way, customers love the ease of purchasing and the option for next-day shipping through Prime. It allows my book to reach a wider audience with speed and efficiency.
The biggest pro of Amazon is its visibility and convenience, while the strength of my website lies in the personal connection and brand experience it offers. By using both, I’m able to meet people where they are—whether they value speed or a signature—and serve them with intention either way.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
One of the most impactful strategies I’ve used to grow my clientele has been showing up—in person and with purpose. Vendor events and pop-up shops have allowed me to meet potential customers face-to-face, share the heart behind Rare Creations by Imani, and create meaningful, lasting connections. There’s something powerful about letting people experience your brand in real time. Many who stop by my table for the first time end up becoming long-term supporters.
In addition to vendor events, speaking engagements have played a major role in expanding my reach. As of June 2024, I offer professional speaking services through Imani Mone’t Enterprise, LLC, with a speaker’s fee in place. I often speak on topics from my book, Pray and Get to the Goal in Grace, and handouts tailored to specific topics are available upon request.
I’m frequently invited to participate in Q&A-style sessions and panel discussions where I openly share my journey—whether it’s about navigating high school and college, earning my graduate degree by 21, becoming a first-time homeowner at 22, or building a faith-based brand from the ground up. I especially enjoy speaking with young adults and aspiring entrepreneurs, offering real answers, encouragement, and insight.
For me, growing a brand is about more than exposure—it’s about impact. Whether I’m at a pop-up shop, behind a mic, or sitting with students, I focus on authenticity, purpose, and adding value. I believe building wealth and success starts with discipline, focus, and taking intentional steps daily—and I strive to reflect that in everything I do.
