We recently connected with Imani Levy and have shared our conversation below.

Imani, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?

I always want others to see me as someone who goes after everything I want. Despite the circumstances, I stayed true to myself, trusted my gut, and followed my own path. I can only hope that my legacy impacts this world just. as it has impacted me.

Imani, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I am 26-year-old Imani Levy from the beautiful Island of Jamaica. I reflect a varied personality including ambition, determination, kind-hearted and so much more. As an entrepreneur on the rise, I’m currently building my empire while operating my business Skinnovations LLC and completing my Bachelor in Business Entrepreneurship at Palm Beach State College. From the age of 11, I had dreams of becoming an entrepreneur. I always suffered from eczema and had to be very cautious about what I put on my skin. My struggles with eczema influenced my research for products that can help soothe my flare-ups. As the years went on I got more and more into skincare, makeup, fashion, ect. It was when I started college I decided that I wanted to start up my own skincare line. Taking most of what I gathered from school and from doing my own research, I began the process of my business startup. However, I did not rush the process. That is one bit of advice that I can give anyone looking to start a business. Always move on your own time. It took me 2 years to launch my business. I made sure that I took my time to test out the products that I was creating along with others just so I had other experiences to market myself. However, everything that glitters is not gold. Meaning, although overwhelming at times, I never let that get me down because I always reminded myself of the bigger picture. I was always determined, even in times when I felt like others did not believe in my vision. I believed in it and that is all that mattered. So here we are today Skinnovations live and in effect since November 25, 2021. I offer an array of skincare products such as body butters, body scrubs, hand-made soaps, and masks. In addition to a spiritual section on my site as well where I offer crystal candles, crystal bracelets, sage, incense, and more. My aim for my brand is to provide products for those who not only want to be conscious about what they are putting on their body but want to maintain healthy, glowing skin. In regards to my brand compared to my competitors, I try to go above and beyond to make sure I always deliver extraordinary customer service. In doing so I offer giveaways. and monthly specials to show my appreciation to my customers; They are the ones that keep Skinnovations going. I am proud of how far my brand has come. The testimonials from customers bring me joy because it validates I am exactly where I am supposed to be but the sky is the limit.

How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.

In addition, to having my website, Skinnovations is also available on Amazon and Etsy. I chose to do this for marketing purposes because these are major platforms on their own and they have a high traffic of customers that use them on a daily. The only downside to using these platforms is the cost to keep them up and running.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

The best source of new clients for me has been social media and influencer marketing. If I had to choose between the two I would choose social media marketing as my favorite. I am a social butterfly and love to interact with my customers.
