We recently connected with Iliana Soltani and have shared our conversation below.
Iliana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What was the most important lesson/experience you had in a job that has helped you in your professional career?
One of the valuable lessons I learn in my previous positions was how to manage time and became detail oriented. I worked in the accounting field for over 10years. I learned to be responsive to completion of tasks on timelines and always be open for new responsibilities that eventually open doors to new opportunities.
one of the things that has been helpful to me is being willing to learn new things and improve my skills. This allows me to be seen as an expert in my field while also ensuring that I am not limited in the ways in which I may continue to add value to my professional and personal development.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I lived with my mother and grandparents. My grandmother had her own business and was also a homestead mom. She would sell baby clothes for events from baby showers to birthdays and she was very well known in the neighborhood. My grandmother would do layaways, and I would walk the neighborhood with her and the ledger at hand, as her assistance collecting payments. I remember as a kid my mother taking me to the Bank and always taking the deposit slips to play with them later on. I have always enjoyed math and paperwork since I remember. I believe that’s where everything started as my grandma would always encourage me to have my own business.
I started my journey working in a clothing store during my college years then transitioned into being a barista at a coffee house. I noticed I love to interact with people and also do administration work. I landed my first opportunity at a corporate administration department and then worked my way up over time, doing accounting in different businesses and transitioning to the real estate world, including an accountant project for a Multi-Family Corporation. Loan Modifications underwriter, and Bankruptcy and audits in the Finances Area for Chase Bank. I believe all these experiences developed me gradually to my journey as an entrepreneur.
As I embraced motherhood, I took time to reflect if I was going back to the corporate world or follow my desire of becoming an entrepreneur as with so many years of experience in different areas of the function of a business, I had the tools to make my dream a reality of becoming an entrepreneur. Since I remember I always wanted to become a Real Estate Agent, investor, and Author. The dream was always in the back of my mind, and I followed my grandmother’s advice to work for myself.
I enjoy making dreams come true for first-time homebuyers. I continue to educate myself to provide them with the current market by setting a plan to retain ownership. Real Estate entails many different aspects such as marketing and sales analysis. I keep my clients up to date about advantages and disadvantages that come along with pricing, neighborhoods, new construction, and many other factors. This passion of mine involves so many outlets and faucets of details that require much attention and dedication to bring about a successful transaction.
What sets me apart from others it’s my dedication to my clients and my constant strive to provide high services and my continued education of the market and myself. In real estate you never stop learning.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Resilience is defined as the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, tragedy or significant sources of stress.
I have many stories to share but no matter who we are, or how life is currently going, one thing that is inevitable is that our faith will be tested with setbacks, failure, and trouble force our faith into the open and reveal its colors.
In football, the term “front-runner” is used to describe a player who is engaged while the game is going their way, but as soon as they encounter a setback they collapse – quickly retreating, they make less effort and eventually give up.
Being a learner allows us to build resiliency by facing life challenges with a faithful attitude, instead of getting disappointed, hard-hearted or giving up. Faith is what gives us the ability to take anything in life, including our failures, and turn them into experiences that drive us to success.
