We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ignatius Mwela a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ignatius, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Connecting with others is usually challenging, however the arts are an easy way to assure chemistry is made. We use comedy and performance poetry to open discussions around mental and emotional health, leadership/social skills, diversity appreciation, or ultimately sharing ideas around relationships beyond our own experiences.
It’s an emotional investment of self, its laughing and learning, its a classroom…our chalkboard just happens to be a stage!
Ignatius, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
COMETRY started with a passion of two people(Chad Songs & Iggy Mwela) who wanted to pave a road for artist who had value but the industry financially ignored. We wanted to see if we can find commercial value and learn those ways to then show others how to navigate idea of being employed and recognized for your art/passion.
I am most proud of how I found a way to let go of social norms. And if I were to share anything about moving in this direction is to say, remember before you knew how good a gyro was/is? You had to discover or go beyond your comfort zone to become a new YOU! YOU had to find fear and embrace it to understand something you have never experienced. That’s the behavior you have to practice to keep growing or becoming, developing, or expanding. For some reason when we find social acceptance or acknowledgments of what we’ve done we settle and own that existence as the place that we have to defend(call it your identity). Progress often gets forgotten when gratification if given .
COMETRY coaches or exposes human nature(s) via the experience because no one ever wants to be talked to or told they are wrong however learning how you got there or where you are NOW gives you the autonomy to recognize then decide if you want to change that or keep it. If fear is involved in that moment, that I a major indicator or regret and changes that must be made to best serve the self.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
the best source for new clients is confidence. When people or your company has confidence in self and in your product of service it will be known. People can feel vibes or energies and when you can resonate that it will be their truth and what they find as truth is what they will speak on. In short, WORD OF MOUTH!
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
Staying on top of research, reading, observing the world with a untrained eye(which is to say without judgment), discovering ways to provide proof to others that what you have works
