Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ifeoluwa Winner . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ifeoluwa , appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Writing songs and transforming them into original compositions or remixes is more significant to me as a content creator. Soothing Sundayz, Restaurant Rantz, WINZMIX, The Fruit Package, and Nursery Rhymez are all the music series I’ve made. In April 2019, I began uploading my first music content, “Soothing Sundayz,” in which I wrote original songs with a calming chill or melodic sound and posted them on Instagram every Sunday afternoon. Soothing Sundayz will always hold a particular place in my heart since it provided a platform for me to find my voice and style as a singer and songwriter. I had no idea that I could write so many songs that hundreds of people would view and appreciate on social media before uploading. I started WINZMIX in 2021 out of curiosity; this music series was a step up from “Soothing Sundayz” since I began to remix popular songs by mostly Afrobeat musicians, such as “Somebody’s Son” by Tiwa Savage featuring Brandy and “Essence” by Wizkid featuring Tems. Original musicians such as Tiwa Savage, Brandy, 1daBanton, and DeejayNeptune have recognized a handful of my WINZMIX songs. My page grew and my audience grew when Tiwa Savage posted my version of “Somebody’s Son.” Finally, I’ll explain why “Restaurant Rantz” is such an important series to me. The Lord inspired me to create a music series based on original jingles about popular eateries, which I released in Summer 2022. I created around 15 jingles for McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Cookout, Chipotle, KFC, and many other places, and a couple of them recognized me on Instagram and TikTok, which was quite cool and surprising. Now, why is this all meaningful to me? More than saying words, music allows me to convey and explain my thoughts about my current state of mind, my opinions, and my experiences, and it helps me find new ways to urge others to follow Jesus Christ.
Ifeoluwa , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a 22-year-old singer, songwriter, content creator, creative director, photographer, videographer, brand strategist, media personality, and the CEO of Winz Wardrobe, my new street wear fashion line. I’m a Durham, North Carolina native and an alumni of UNC Greensboro. My relationship with Jesus has influenced her faith within her artistic journey for the past 6 years. I hopes that the vibes, message, and groove of my Neo-Soul and Afrocentric style will have an impact on people. Not only that, but I want you to feel at ease throughout your listening experience, to be blessed by God’s message, and to feel Jesus’ love—from her personal experiences and societal issues. I launched mymultimedia brand, WINZ, in 2020, but I’ve been creating social media content for about ten years, with an increasing eye for detail. I’m multifaceted because I dabble in photography, videography, music, podcasting, creative direction, voice acting, branding, and video editing. “The most enjoyable part of being a creative is working with a team and cognitively thinking about what will inspire and motivate the community.” I’ve have created entertaining projects and musical-based videos, such as “WINZMIX” remixes of popular songs, which have been recognized by a number of big artists, including Tiwa Savage, Brandy, 1da Banton, and others! I also creates original music series called, “Restaurant Rantz”, where I wrote jingles and songs about restaurants such as Wendy’s, Cookout, Five Guys, and many more. I’ve have directed four films in the last three years, one of which was nominated for best comedy short film at the Silicon Valley African Film Festival in California in 2020 under my filming production, “Lavish Filmz Productions.” I recently went on a tour called “Afrodance Cypher: School Tour” from February to April 2023, and I took my “afrodance cypher” event experience that I started in April 2022 to various campuses in North Carolina, where people got an opportunity to join together and share their love for african dancing. I hosted the event with my WINZ crew, who are fantastic people, and the event allowed people to participate in fun and engaging dance games, compete in dance competitions, and show off their skills in the dancing circle.
I’m most proud of my brand, WINZ, which is a multimedia brand established to provide innovative and profitable opportunities for communities and individuals to create and publish media content, advance networking using cultivated and artistic events, uplift and motivate nations to know Jesus through evangelism and community service, and building tools to implement safe spaces for creators.
My brand is for those who forgot how to dream, All that I’m building through the different outlets of media is for a bigger picture, and there are several moments when I want to give up and throw my freaking phone, but I always remember my ‘why’. I keep going because of God, my friends that are also going in the innovative and creative path, and for the people all over the world who will be impacted by WINZ to tap into their creative bag,
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I’d like for society to build tangible and safe locations where creators can freely make content rather than pushing us away and making us feel as if we couldn’t film anywhere in the city. I recall wanting to perform a photoshoot in a laundry mat for an hour for my clothes line because of the concept I had planned, and I remember finding a laundry mat with my team that was suitable for the shoot during my scout day, and we asked for permission. My photographer and a couple of my models arrived at the laundry mat before me on the day of the shoot, and I was told that they were being ejected out and that the employee was planning on contacting the cops, which was absurd and embarrassing for me. The community and society need to do a better job of accommodating artists and creatives by enabling us to use specific assets for our shoots because our creativity can even help market their business. It appears to me to be a win-win situation.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Personally, I wish I had known about Tik Tok when it first launched, and I wish I had listened to another friend who is a successful Tik Tok creator who urged me to utilize the app because she believed in me and my material. She thought my content was more appropriate for Tik Tok, but due to my pride at the time, which I did repent for, I didn’t join the app until 2021.
