We were lucky to catch up with Ìfé Michelle Milligan recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ìfé Michelle , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
A defining moment for me, was finally overcoming fears and surrendering to the healing that was necessary for me. It was a moment when I was able to truly connect with my Destiny and Purpose through Ancestral Healing and Wisdom.
I had an epiphany. One night I opened my heart to prayer that encompassed the depths of me, after which I experienced a significant shift in my consciousness.
This moment helped me to broaden my capacity to harness this healing energy and utilize it in my Spiritual and Professional career.
It helped me to hold space for others, as they tapped into their healing energy. I realized that in order for me to heal, I also had to access healing for my bloodline.
In hindsight, I realize that all my life has been filled with defining moments. I have learned that if we are mindful and open to the signs and symbols of the Universe, we are always being guided with moments that provide new opportunities to redefine our world.
These moments helped me understand the meaning of my existence, providing me with the possibilities of transformation. I was able to transform through this healing and redefine my life. I understood that all I ever desired, was on the other side of fear.
This moment lead me to write and publish my first book, “ Divine Reflections at the Crossroads “. A book that encompasses all the defining moments that changed the trajectory of my life. My book was a culmination of all my defining moments.
Ìfé Michelle , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Ìfé. I was born and raised in St. Croix, USVI. My name was given to me by my father, after his travels to West Africa, to uncover the birthplace of my family. It means love, and it has shaped my entire existence.
I believe it is the meaning behind my work. Everything I do is fueled by love, including my choice to become a mental health therapist, a certified holistic life coach and a Spiritual guide.
It is has been the foundation of my work, and is what has allowed me to remain committed to what I do.
I have been a mental health therapist for 27 years, and my dedication to helping others is based in love. Love for others and myself has prompted me to also further deepen my connection with Spirit.
I am an Iyalorisha, a Priestess in the Yoruba tradition called Lucumi. This practice connects me back to my Ancestry and assists me with providing services for others. I also help others with their practice of honoring their Ancestors and venerating them, through my mediumship.
Love and my connection to Spirit, also led me to the beauty of dance. I am an Orisha dance instructor, that celebrates Nature and manifestations of God, in my dance classes. Through this dance I teach others to heal themselves through movement and connecting to the essence of their bodies.
My connection to Spirit is also the catalyst for my Ancestral work and my ability to lean on my Ancestors for wisdom.
I provide mental health, coaching and spiritual support and guidance to those in need. I am passionate about healing. It is an absolute privilege to witness the healing of others and help them remember how powerful they are. I enjoy helping others understand the power of their thoughts and allowing their blessings to flow.
I also base my work in helping others understand the important connection between Spirit and Mental Health. This allows my clients to celebrate their gifts and deepen their concept of self.
I host classes and co- facilitate gatherings that teach others how to connect with the wisdom of their Soul and Soul Contract. I am passionate about empowerment and transmuting negative experiences into lessons for evolution.
I have been blessed to meet beautiful beings along the way that are also on the journey of self discovery. I have had opportunities to travel to such places as Puerto Rico, St. Croix, Cuba, cities in the U.S. and Barbados and share with others , in the beauty of healing and Ancestral practice.
Most recently, I was particularly delighted to engage in “Sacred Conversations with our Ancestors “ with Ìyá Simone Arthur. In these Ancestral gatherings, located in Barbados, the participants are able to learn more about their Ancestors through indigenous Spiritual healing practices.
My platform is called “Sacred Crossroads”. I believe it is at the crossroads of life, that we find our healing. There is magic at the Crossroads. The Crossroads of life, provides us with opportunities to transform through the choices we make, therefore they are sacred.
I am honored to be a mother. My children are my biggest inspirations and teachers.
I am most proud of being in a place of alignment with that which I came here to do. I truly believe that I am walking in my Destiny.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
The first thing that comes to mind, is my Spiritual journey and development. I had to be extremely patient and dedicated to my path. I knew there was a great deal for me to accomplish, but I had to trust and put faith into practice. It took years to find and establish a Spiritual community. I desired teachers and mentors that seemed non existent at the time. I frequently encountered closed doors and detours. I learned I had to prioritize and put more trust in the Creator. I realized that I had to have faith, and that if I remained consistent and focused, the teachers would appear.
Like the saying goes .. “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear”.
I believe one is at times tested, to determine how much you are willing to sacrifice and invest in yourself.
All along, I was being prepared. This was the beauty of my resilient journey. It was all part of the plan. It created so much gratitude.
When I was finally ready.. all was revealed, and I was able to move forward in my Spiritual tradition.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I believe the biggest lesson that I had to unlearn and learn was the concept of time and that of divine timing. When I was younger, I did not understand this concept. I wanted to see results and see them quickly. I doubted that I could create the life that was destined for me. As I evolved and matured, I realized that everything happens in divine time, not one moment earlier or later.
This moment of enlightenment came in my late 40’s, after transformative shifts in my life.
I have also learned that every encounter was an opportunity to learn more about myself and that what “is for me.. is mine” and it will come with ease, if I choose.
I learned the power of manifesting, and the understanding that we are always manifesting. The idea of synchronicities and miracles was a lesson I learned. I began to pay attention, and realized they existed. I understood that we are always being guided. We just have to remain open and receive.
As I quoted in my book ,”Divine Reflections at the Crossroads.”
“When you affirm what you desire, trust that the Universe is listening…but only gives you what is yours in Divine time..”
