We recently connected with Ifakemi Comeaux and have shared our conversation below.
Ifakemi , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.
I would like to thank my parents and my family for raising me into the woman i am today. I am a go-getter, I am determined and always motivated to want to do more and provide more and i get that from my family. My family has always been very giving and caring people, you know that Southern hospitality but it’s way more than that. My family has help mold me into a beautiful woman that loves to give and provide knowledge or advice to others. They have taught me to be forgiving and grateful just by seeing how they carried themselves in every situation. They definitely did a great job in these areas. This has trickled over into my life and career naturally and it has taught me how to be responsible, stand in my power and stand my ground. How i was raised always pushes me to go harder and always keep going and striving for success. It teaches me to keep dreaming and having goals because as long as i keep working they will eventually come true. They taught me how to never give up on myself and that is why i never give up on my business and goals.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hellooo lovelies, my name is Alexus(Ifakemi) Comeaux, I am a Reiki Practitioner, Intuitive Reader, Holistic Practitioner, Storyteller, Ifa and Orisa Pratictioner. I have a Bachelors of Science from The Texas Southern University. I got into this industry during my last two years of undergraduate studies and since then my life has changed drastically. It started off and still is a self journey on my path to self-healing and success. It was like i was called to the industry of spiritual and holistic care to teach myself as well as others, the tools and knowledge to help build their healthy and balanced life. There are many tools to help you learn who you are from the core and grow into the person you’ve chosen to become before you came into this world. I was always taught that, patience is a virtue and everything happens for a reason. So, everything that has happened in your life has a deeper meaning and lesson to learn from it. It is all to bring you to your highest self. It is my goal is to encourage spiritual and holistic ways of life, to be healthy, to be at peace and calm, to be one with ourselves, and to follow on the journey that was meant for us since the day we were born.

It is my purpose to help my clients to live a fulfilling happy and healthy lifestyle. To understand it is important to take care of and treat yourself, especially as you grow older. It is important to always remain open and forever be a student. Cherish your mind, body and soul and you will always be able to achieve your desires & aspirations.
I am most proud of myself and how hard I have worked on myself and my brand. Throughout all of the challenges, pain, and struggles I never gave up no matter what was thrown at me and it has taught me how to be resilient and humble to keep going and there will always be bumpy times ahead but it is how you perceive those moments that determines what you will experience. I have had many times where I wanted to give up because of the thought of failing or having to start over. There have been times where I had to start completely over and i was devastated to have to start something new again. But, all of that has brought me to where I am today talking to you all. Throughout all the cries and late nights, I still pushed through and it is okay to start over new. Starting over new means new beginnings and if you don’t take the risk you will always be in the state of what-ifs. So, take it from me don’t give up on yourself and don’t give up on your dreams there is someone out there waiting for you to make it happen and if there isn’t. I’m waiting for you to make it happen because you are capable and ready for it. Live in your truth and do what your heart desires.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy i have had for growing my clientele is being authentically me. Being genuine. People gravitate to you more when they see that you are truly genuine and you are putting in the work on and off camera. We live in a world full of masks. Everyone wears a mask and sometimes people change their mask depending on the occasion or situation. Being authentically me has brought me around people who are also genuine and not caught up in the facade the media portrays on the world. It has brought me around very intelligent and amazing individuals and that is what I love. You attract the energy you put out and if you are giving out fraudulent energy and intentions then that is what you will receive back.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
There are many books and podcasts that have impacted my perspective on life and my business. A few of the books are: The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks, Sacred Woman by Queen Afua, The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz A few of the podcast are:
Funding your Healthcare Vision by Dr. Omolara Thomas Uwemedimo,
The Doula Road Trip by Jarriel Campbell, The Black Girl Flow Podcast.
Each of these books and podcast have taught me important lessons and skills with being on this journey of entrepreneurship. It is all about balance, understanding, and taking some time to rest if you understand these small things that can help you pivot your life into new ways of thinking.
