We recently connected with Idrissa Sanogo and have shared our conversation below.
Idrissa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
Currently a full-time actor. It was a crazy ride here from From dropping out of school and working outside in the cold to pay my rent. To being able a full time actor and living more comfortably than I ever had.
One of the major mile stones was booking a supporting role in a box office feature film a couple months after dropping out of school.
Only thing I’d change is having started sooner!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I originally set out to be a model not an actor. But the boutique agency I applied to had me do a monologue in my interview. They’re the ones that suggested I become an actor,
I’ve had an unorthodox journey in my acting training. Using three of my friends over the years to get better and better at auditioning.
I’m most proud of being able to get one of the best agents in the country as well as booking a series lead last summer.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When I first told became financially independent from my parents I got scammed and lost my savings.
I had just told them I was dropping out so I knew I couldn’t ask them for help. What followed was my first dry spell as an actor but I didn’t give up and few months later the first thing I booked in a 5 month dry spell was a supporting role in feature film with Ice Cube.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I want to create a life that I can truly enjoy a sense of liberty.
I am creative because it’s the only thing I have real passion for.
The ultimate goal is financial freedom and then community building.
