We were lucky to catch up with Idris Abdullah recently and have shared our conversation below.
Idris, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
One of the kindest things came from my mentor and boss, Cameron Lilly. He was the first to buy from my brand, Possible Golf, and one of the first to believe in it. He made space for it in the pro shop and even helped me financially when I needed a car. On top of that, he gave me free lessons to improve my game. His support shaped my journey in ways I’ll always appreciate.

Idris, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m the founder of two brands that reflect both my passions and identity. Possible Golf emerged from a moment of inspiration. Seeing Michael Block possible, in golf and in life. That’s our motto: Anything Is Possible. We offer apparel that inspires people to keep going, whether on the course or in life, because the next shot is always the most important. Ahkstar is personal. It’s rooted in my identity as a Muslim. My name, Abdullah, means servant of God. Yet, it’s a brand for everyone, about being your best self with God-consciousness. The style blends streetwear influences into clean, fly designs. It’s about identity, simplicity, and confidence—whether you’re Muslim or not. Both brands share one thing: they’re about believing in yourself, and I’m proud to bring that to life through every piece we create.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
My mom, who’s a business coach, guided me on raising my initial capital. She had me email 20 people in my network, offering two options: either a donation or a $500 loan that I’d repay within a year. Amazingly, only three people sent money, but that made all the difference. My grandma sent $500, my mentor Cameron Lindley sent $500, and another donation came from my other grandma. That roughly $1,000 was the kickstart for Possible Golf. I invested in ball markers and beanies, and after that, Cameron let me place them in the golf shop. That’s how Possible Golf got its start.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think what helped build my reputation most is a combination of creativity, consistency, and, above all, relationships. I have built trust by treating people with kindness, giving back, and maintaining genuine connections. On top of that, I am hands-on with my brand. I design the pieces, I market them, and I use my own photography and video skills. I believe that combination being fully involved and building real relationships is what sets me apart in my market.
