We were lucky to catch up with Idalis Richardson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Idalis, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Haus FE started in many different variations. First got the idea to start my own business one day in college. I know continuing formal education wasn’t for me. I think to much outside of the box, I grow up with business owners and I watched how hard they worked. I always felt that I can do that as well. I knew my only option wasn’t college so I started Kons multi media Group at the age of 20. Fast forward 5 years later KONS I have became Haus FE. A Media production company, A photography studio and fashion line. FE stands for FCK EVRYBDY/EVRYTHNG. When I came up with that name, that was just my mood, how I was feeling. I spent 5 years listening and learning the culture I’m in, and I just got to a point where I begun to say “fuck it, I’ll do it my way” and it was one of my best decisions.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
So to give a quick synopsis of myself, my name is idalis richardson some may know me as Rich or pplcallmerich on Instagram. I’m a 25 years old videographer/photography based outta of Denver. One thing I’m most proud is I haven’t quit. I’m the first to admit when I first started this journey. I believed I would be rich and famous at this age, but that wasn’t gods plan and tbh I’m not sure if I was even ready for that. These past 5x years has been my college experience. I spent those years just learning and getting better at what I do. Yes I have had everything under the sun happen to me over the years but one thing I have never done is quit, and for the Im proud of me.
We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
I have been in business with plenty of people over the years, but the one that stands out is Perry (@basikfatguy on IG) he is the one person I actually consider my business partner. Perry and I met one night when I came to my house for a podcast episode I was doing at the time, and we instantly connected. Since than has became somewhat of a mentor of mines and Someone I highly respect and can count on. Check out some of our clothes at @basikcloths_
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for me as been social media of course. Just being visible, constantly showcasing my work. Depending on the person and how I’m feeling I may hit them up on IG shoot there video for free. Than once I finish it and post it all there followers start hitting me up for a video. So I’ll make money off of 5 people based off shooting one video for free and increasing my visibility. Works like a charm.
