We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ida Espevik a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ida, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you take us back in time to the first dollar you earned as a creative – how did it happen? What’s the story?
My first acting gig for Tv was as an extra in the Norwegian Netflix series “Norsemen”. This was my first time being on a professional set and around great famous Norwegian actors, so it was a pretty cool experience. This was my first time seeing how everything worked on a movie set, and it did not disappoint. Even though it was so cold outside that it started to snow, and no one were wearing any particularly warm clothes, it was a blast! I also got to dress up as a real viking, which made it even more fun!
Ida, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a Scandinavian actor from Norway. I started acting at the age of 6, mostly for theater but now I specialize in film acting. I am a conservatory-trained actor and recently graduated from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts with an acting Associate degree.
I speak 4 fluent languages: Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and English (1 other conversational: Spanish), can do accents/dialects, and have training in stage-combat/fencing.
I believe any genre is a good genre in movies, but what I love most to act in are Fantasy and horror.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
That keeps me going and what motivates me everyday is to one day get cast as a series-regular on a tv-series like “The Walking dead”, “Game of Thrones” or “Vikings”. These are my all-time favorite tv-series and it would be a dream to ever be on a set like that.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
To get to do what I love the most. Just to get lost into this imaginary world with imaginary circumstances is such a fun experience, and you never know what gonna happen.
