Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ida. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ida , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
Music has always been a part of me. Growing up, it was the heartbeat of my family, and my mother, my biggest supporter, always reminded me, “Music heals.” When I first started Artist Legit in my hometown of San Antonio, Texas, my goal was simple: to share good music and help artists gain visibility. I didn’t have a deeper purpose beyond that at the time, I just knew I wanted to be in the industry, supporting creatives.
But as time went on, something felt incomplete. I was helping artists grow, but I started questioning: Was I really making an impact? Was I fulfilling a greater purpose? When my mother passed away, those questions became even louder. I held onto her words about the healing power of music, and it sparked something inside me. I began to feel called to do more to use music as a way to bring people peace, hope, and salvation.
That realization didn’t turn into action overnight. After moving to Fort Worth, Texas, I went through almost three years of praying, reflecting, and rebranding. I had to strip everything down and ask myself: What does Artist Legit truly stand for? Slowly, the vision became clear, I wanted to work with Christian artists, helping them monetize their music while staying true to their faith. I wanted to build something that wasn’t just about marketing but about ministry through music.
Right now, I’m in the process of making that shift. I’m learning what it takes to serve faith-driven artists, building connections in the Christian music space, and restructuring my business to align with this mission. It’s been a journey of patience and faith, but I know I’m on the right path. Artist Legit is evolving into something more than a business; it’s becoming a movement, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve always loved music and knew I wanted to be a part of the industry, I just didn’t know how. My journey started in my hometown of San Antonio, Texas, when I became a promoter for a local artist. That one opportunity opened doors, allowing me to meet more artists and industry professionals. From there, I started working at clubs as a promoter on local artist nights, giving me firsthand experience in artist marketing and audience engagement.
Wanting to expand my knowledge, I created a music segment for my university’s news station, giving artists a platform to share their stories. That experience led me to work with various artists and music companies, building my network and deepening my understanding of the industry. Then, in 2020, just before COVID, I took a leap of faith and held my first event. After the pandemic, I continued hosting events, but when I moved to Fort Worth, Texas, I felt a shift happening. I took that time to step back, rebrand, and strategically plan the next phase of my business.
That’s how the new Artist Legit was born, and it’s only going to evolve. What started as a general music marketing agency is transitioning into a faith-driven platform dedicated to supporting Christian artists. Through consulting, branding, and marketing strategies, I want to bridge the gap between ministry and the music business, ensuring Christian artists have the tools to grow without compromising their faith.
What sets Artist Legit apart is the mission behind it. This isn’t just about promoting music; it’s about purpose. I believe music has the power to heal, uplift, and bring people closer to God. Many artists struggle to balance faith with industry demands, and that’s where I step in. I want to create a space where music feeds the soul, not just the charts.
I’m proud of how far I’ve come, but more than anything, I’m excited about what’s ahead. I want people to know that Artist Legit is more than a business; it’s a movement. If you’re an artist looking to grow while staying rooted in your faith, or someone who believes in the healing power of music, I’m here to help bridge that gap.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my audience organically, but to be honest, it wasn’t just about posting content, it was through event marketing. Events played a huge role in growing my online presence because they allowed me to connect with people in real life and then bring that connection into the digital space.
One of the biggest strategies I used was getting attendees involved in social media challenges at events. Whether it was asking them to post about their experience, share a specific hashtag, or tag Artist Legit, it created engagement beyond the event itself. Recapping the event afterward was another key strategy, tagging as many people as possible who attended, resharing their posts, and keeping the momentum going. This turned one-time attendees into part of an ongoing community.
But the most important factor? Engagement. Social media isn’t just about numbers; it’s about relationships. I made it a priority to interact with my followers, respond to comments, and make people feel like they were part of something. That’s what really grows an audience, when people feel seen and valued, they stick around.
For those just starting out, my advice is simple: put in the work to engage. Don’t just post and disappear. Interact with your audience, create moments that make people want to share, and use every opportunity, especially in-person events, to connect with your online community. It takes time, but the reward is seeing how big and engaged your community can become.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the biggest tests of my resilience came when I decided to rebrand Artist Legit. For years, I had built a name in the industry, working with various artists, hosting events, and growing a strong network. But deep down, I felt a shift. I knew I was being called to do something greater with my platform. The problem was, I didn’t know exactly how to make that transition or if people would even support it.
When I moved, I took a step back from everything. I stopped hosting events, stopped taking on new projects, and instead, I prayed. I spent almost three years rebranding, not just in terms of business but also internally, redefining my purpose and direction. It was tough because, in a world that moves so fast, pausing feels like falling behind. There were moments of doubt where I wondered if I was making the right choice, if I had wasted too much time, or if I could even pull this off.
But I held on to faith. I remembered why I started, I reflected on my mother’s words about music being healing, and I trusted that the work I was doing behind the scenes would lead to something meaningful. Now, as I transition into working with Christian artists and using Artist Legit as a platform for healing through music, I see the purpose behind the waiting season.
Resilience isn’t just about pushing forward; sometimes, it’s about knowing when to pause, when to realign, and when to trust the process. Looking back, I realize that stepping away to build something with purpose was one of the hardest yet most rewarding decisions I’ve made.
