We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Icisis Kincy a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Icisis, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
As an 10 year old student I always knew what I wanted to do in life; helping people is my calling and I use my story as a motivation to keep going . It started off when I was going to school and admiring people that looked different. I seen the attention that they received so I wanted to change my appearance. Due to me getting bullied, I felt unworthy and ugly about myself but as I grew confidence I decided that beauty is what I wanted to do . I use to draw cosmetics lipstick tubes with my initials on it and named it “ Ik cosmetics “ . I love the makeup industry from sfx to transitions and simple beats but the industry doesn’t have a lot of African American companies. Also due to my personal experience with Eczema it’s hard finding a great product for sensitive skin. I also knew I wanted to do cosmetics but it’s more than hair its skin . I wanted to become a dermatologist but it still wasn’t what I was looking for . So I gain knowledge on esthetics and have been hooked ever since . As a part time student and customer service associate I realized that making people feel more confident about themselves can change their lives. So why not be gods vessel of self confidence and beauty . I want everyone to feel and look beautiful so that’s why I use my story from disliking my skin to changing the skin and beauty industry one client at a time.
Icisis, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Icisis Kincy and 21 year old Memphis native . I am currently working on starting my career in esthetics. I currently do lash clusters and I am continuing school this year . I dabble in a little bit of everything but I’m taking it one step at a time.
One thing that sets me apart is my ethic and warmth . I put my heart into everything that i do whether it’s a 9-5 or a project I strive for greatness . I remind you of your favorite cousin; easy to talk to , fan favorite, caring , and outgoing. I love making people smile and I attract an energy that just feels natural.
If anything I am proud of my start. The dream I always seen I am living it ,now I’m 36 days into lashes . I can’t wait to learn more so I can flourish in this career while leaving an impact .
One thing about my work is that I set my expectations to be 100% satisfactory. I always make sure my clients feel safe and comfortable with telling me if I messed up or if I didn’t meet their standards. I care about what I do and value my clients . I provide a safe space for ALL
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
To keep in touch I send thank you message . Also I send a one week check up to see how the appointment was and how the lashes held up . I also send my returning clients flyers when a new sale or service is available.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
In my opinion, social media has played a part in bringing new clientele. The more I post and spread the word the more clientele i shall receive.
