Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ibette Tovar. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ibette , appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea came natural to me, since beauty has always been my passion. My biggest fear was the what if… What if someone doesn’t like it. I was so scared of failing I’m my worst critic and would second guess my work and not post it because there was something I found that was not good enough. Until one day I told myself, I’m posting more even if it’s only one person that likes it that’s all that matters. Not everyone is going to like my work and that’s ok. I’m ok with that. I’m doing this because this is my passion, this is something I enjoy doing and I will not give that up. This is always easier said than done.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My passion for beauty began as a little girl. I mean what little girl doesn’t like makeup. Growing up, I loved to play dress up and play with makeup. In High School, I was the go to person for hair and makeup. After High School I didn’t pursue beauty. I became a mother at the age of 18 (I know I was a baby with a baby). I had to grow up really quick. I started working and when I say working I mean a crazy schedule. The money was good but I was not happy. After many years of working I decided I wanted to make a career change and that’s when I enrolled in Cosmetology School.
In 2012, Gorgeous Creations journey began. I was still working a full-time job and on the weekends I serviced clients which till this day I continue to do the same. Originally, the idea was only to provide makeup glams. Within a small period of time I had so many requests for hair so I added Hair services. I have now added additional services which include Brow Shaping, Tint, Lamination and Micro-shading. If you know me you know that EYEBROWS have always been my thing.
I take my job very serious and stay up to date with current products and techniques.
I can say that the problem I solve for my clients when they are in my chair is by being a good listener and giving them exactly what they asked for. I understand that their time is valuable and want to make sure they are as comfortable and enjoying every minute they are in my chair.
What I am most proud of besides my family, is looking back at pictures of my work and seeing how far I have become.
What I want new potential clients/followers to know about me is that I am a human like everyone else and that I love to help anyone out in any way possible. I am here whether you need a glam or simply to fix your brows let me help you.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
What I have found the most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been social media besides word of mouth. Really just staying in people’s faces by posting as much possible and staying consistent.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
By no means am I an expert. I am still growing but what your audience wants to see is more of you, your everyday life, your work and really just being yourself.
