We were lucky to catch up with Iana Rose recently and have shared our conversation below.
Iana, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
My college year during a photoshoot, a photographer was teaching me how to pose and ooze confidence. Then, later on I sign on to a modeling agency. I knew then I wanted to purse a modeling career.

Iana, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a freelance model that is detailed oriented, patient, a team player, creative, and driven to succeed. My modeling job duties are promoting products, print, digital advertisements, appearing in designer’s runway showcases, and videos.
I got into this industry to live a glamorous and stardom life. Lol, just kidding! I got involved in this industry because it’s a job and if you work hard, you have the opportunity to earn lots of money or bookings.
What set me apart from others is that I have the ability to work calmly in high pressure situations and I love modeling. Being passionate about modeling helps intensify my focus.
I am most proud of everything I learned along the way. I’m constantly setting new goals and striving by using my success to help achieve my goals.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a model is the opportunity to meet people. For instance, I had the opportunity to be photograph by Lindsay Adler, who is an portrait and fashion photographer based in NYC. I had to play it cool and not to act starstruck lol. Also, I had the opportunity to appear as an extra in a movie and get filmed in a music video.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
A time I had to pivot as a model and took a break from it all, is when I got tired of the stereotype/beauty-obsessed culture.
(1) Having the right look is definitely a big factor in having a successful career.
(2) Some clients prefer to work with agents and there are requirements for high fashion/editorial print that requires a minimum height and excellent physique.
All of these things I didn’t have was discouraging. Why can’t modeling be accessible to everyone without requirements of height, chest, and waist. I am also aware that this is a marketing strategy.
Let’s skip the physical appearance and physical beauty. This is what kept me to keep going as a model. This is my platform to be a role model and aspire others that flaws can be beautiful, too. I can influence others in positive way to learn to love themselves.
