We were lucky to catch up with Ian Stupar recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ian, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
Our emphasis is on maintaining a safe space for all our customers and maintaining the vibe of our place. This includes what we have to offer our patrons, how our staff interacts with customers, how the place is decorated, all of it.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My background is in culinary and restaurants. I’ve been in the industry in someway shape or form for over 20 years. The Royal Room turns 5 this year and is a neighborhood bar located near downtown Tucson. I got into the food industry because I have always had a passion for cooking and all things restaurants and food and beverage!

How did you build your audience on social media?
We unintentionally landed on a catch phrase and a certain look for our images on instagram that seems to work for us? I think cohesion and consistency in regards to social media is key so viewers/customers can identify the media as yours and not just swipe or move on right past it.
Obviously the content is still the most important, but how it’s presented we’ve found is equally as important.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Our staff! Our staff and how they interact with our patrons.
our staff pick the music on the radio and what’s on thew TV’s so that changes the tone of the space at any given moment and the in turn the tone of our customers.
