Hi Ian, thanks for joining us today. Can you recount a time when the advice you provided to a client was really spot on?
As a financial advisory team for content creators, one of the biggest pieces of advice we push with our clients is: “get your finances in order and do it quick.” The content creator career lifespan can be so short, and the last thing anyone wants is to have a short time frame of high income and not be prepared for it.
Our clients look to us and our partners for guidance on how to budget strategically, how to save for emergencies, how to invest for their futures, and how to strategize with their taxes. By integrating all of these into their day-to-day lives, they’re able to live stress free knowing that their futures are secure and they can be present and worry-free in the meantime.

I, Ian Alvarez, am a financial advisor under the Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management Company. Our team specializes in helping professional athletes and entertainment professionals achieve what we call work-optional lifestyles.
By integrating risk-adjusted investment strategies with tax mitigation planning, We guide highly compensated individuals with short income timelines toward financial freedom.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
The financial services industry is designed around a 9 to 5 employee who will have decades to plan for a traditional retirement and that’s a pretty useless model for a young athlete or content creator who is earning way above six figures right now but has no idea how long they’ll be making that much, or what to do with it to make it last. There’s a reason we often see athletes or entertainers go broke ten years after hitting it big — it’s no different with content creators, and I’m here not only to make sure that doesn’t happen to my clients but also to help them maximize the opportunity they have.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Similar to CPAs and Attorneys, our team works on a referral-only basis. We offer a highly curated premium service that is hard to come by in today’s market and for that we are valued by our clients who are kind enough to facilitate introductions to individuals in their circles with similar financial circumstances to their own.
