We recently connected with IamNutzo and have shared our conversation below.
IamNutzo, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think Corporate America gets wrong in your industry? Any stories or anecdotes that illustrate why this matters?
The thing that Corporate America gets wrong in my industry is putting every black rapper in a box of negativity when we’re clearly expressing our daily lives being treated less than respected human beings.
IamNutzo, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello, my name is IamNutzo. I’m the artist and owner of Nutzo Entertainment who’s learning to produce and engineer for myself and others in the industry. Not only I do music, but I’m also a Voiceover actor. I’m currently the narrator for the book series Gangster Chronicles by author Curtis Foster. Book 1&2 are available on Audible and I’m almost finished with book 3. I’ma student first when it comes to production because music itself always has something in store. I learn something new everyday and want to express what I’ve learned with others.
Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
I’ve got started manufacturing a few years ago. Being stressed out from my personal life at the time I needed an outlet. Once I got introduced to music theory it caught my interest. I’ve decided to buy myself a keyboard to start learning out of curiosity. The more I’ve practiced, the more I’ve improved. I wish I would’ve started sooner because I didn’t know what I was missing lol. Manufacturing a song consists of creating a melody, sometimes a counter melody, whether you create your own from scratch out after chopping a sample, then arrange the melody to your liking, then add drums, make sure they’re knocking like crazy btw, after you polished the beat write a song that best matches the energy of the beat you just made. After you mix and master, then you’re ready for digital distribution. It’s a lot easier to use and best way to let the world hear you out.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I’ve been dealing with a lot these last few years. From working a full time job, learning how to run a business, long hours, less sleep, over time it’ll take a toll on you mentally. Once I was diagnosed with anxiety and PTSD I needed a safe productive outlet. What better therapy than to listen to the notes become more in sync from the practice you’ve put in.
