Alright, IAlejandro thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
At this point in my life, working with Actreess Airam Camacho; it is very meaningful because brought my inner child out, this is my first time working with kids, and I am loving it. We did a project about the Mariachi Culture, also part of our rich Mexican culture. We called it Vestido Folclorico and the outcome was Fabulous, II a so greatfull.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Well everything started when I was a teenager in the 1990s and for some reason, I loved the tv commercial from Cover Girl that I loved, it always got my attention models, and singers even at that time Z-90 the radio station was the station everybody was listening to, I started playing with my sister’s hair and eventually, I had the opportunity to work for the radio station and after that went to Beauty School at Bay Vista College.
I remember at that time when I went to Cosmetology School, CHI (Flat Iron) was the thing, after I left school and for some reason, I started doing something else, but the hair and make up; I never gave up on it. In 2009 when I left Sprint/Nextel I decided to jump into the hair and makeup world once again, in approximately 2010 I had the opportunity to work along with a Local Designer in RunWay.
After I had the opportunity to show my work along with other talented people, I decided to share my own work with a project named “The Monarch Project” at that time We were able to benefit “Las Memorias” a place that supports and provides assistance with a place to stay, medications and other needs that their members might need or have.
By that time I was working along and supporting local artists, fashion designers, models, photographers, singers, actors, and actresses, to name some of them; Yudiria Diaz (Model), Nidia Barajas (Singer/Songwriter), Emmanuel Vega (Actor/Singer), Luis Aviles (Fashion Designer), Gina Valdez (Model/Singer/Actress), Elizabeth Carazoles (Model), Adrian Volt (Photographer), Lorena (Model), Belem Acevedo (Model), Paola Niebla (Photographer) and my most recent Airam Camacho (MyFull Star) which I am so thankful for giving me the trust and opportunity to grow with everyone and each of you.
I finally decided to focus more on my career in hair and makeup but didn’t want to stay in a place all day, I remember that I loved going to my friend’s house to do their hair, because it was more fun, hehe.
So I decided to do network house calls only since my friends were always busy, taking care of their kids or husband or their home or all of the above, so I decided to give more personal service, more intimate, more unique, and exclusive and inclusive at the same time.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Yes, to be able to become a better human being, to prove that dreams do come true, and to be able to help others in my journey.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I believe it is to be able to put a smile on someone’s face and change the perspective they had before the makeover.
