Hymn , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear how you think where to draw the line in terms of asking friends and family to support your business – what’s okay and what’s over the line?
It would be amazing if friends / family would support mine or anyone’s business. Starting a business requires a lot of work and steps. With that being said, naturally we all want help. Wanting help isn’t a bad thing, the problem comes when we expect it. A business first starts as a vision. That vision is something that only you can feel and desire. I use to feel some type of way when family didn’t offer to help me when they seen me doing everything in my power to get things going. I had to learn early on not to expect people around me to be all in into something that they weren’t passionate about. This reality humbled me. I am appreciative of anyone that sees value in what I’m doing and understanding of the ones that don’t.

Hymn , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a singer, producer, engineer and songwriter. I have been making music and writing since the age of 5. I personally believe that if your follow your purpose everything else will follow. The most important aspect of what I do is the reason why I do it. I want to bring the best out of people that I work with. I believe that God has given me the gift to recognize a person greatness and the skillset to bring it out. With my business I work personally with artist to create a sound for them. There are many producers in this world that have pre-made beats that artist can purchase. But, the music that artist have to chose from sounds like other artist music. My solution to this issue is I created a custom beat experience with artist where we have two 15 minute zoom meeting where we talk about who they are as an artist. From there I will create a sound for them that is different from others, yet similar in being relatable to listeners. The turnaround for creating the sound is 4-7 days. When it is time to deliver the music, I will also have a final 15 zoom meeting to discuss thoughts and revisions. The custom beat experience is unique because it comes with a exclusive beat contract stating that the beat is only for the artist and insures that the artist receive writing and publishing rights. This experience is also available to business such as gaming, TV, and film.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
In the Bible found in James 2:26 it states that, “…faith without works is dead”. Although that is true I have always been taught that the harder you work the higher your chances are of success. When I first start making music I told myself that I am going to make 2 beat a day. I had a good start but I realized that after maybe a week I start losing determination. No matter how hard I tried I got burned out. My consistency was weakened because my drive was low. On my journey in life I found that success isn’t determined by how hard you work, but actually how hard you believe. You have to believe really hard in whatever you are going for, for it to work. There must be action behind what you believe in but I had to unlearn that work is more valuable than the belief. We are spiritual beings. Manifestation is birthed into fruition from within (mind & spirt). The depths of how far you will go to work is limited by how much you believe. So to sum it up, I learned that work is important but to become more clear and focused on how much I believe in it.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
When I first approached social media I quickly got caught up with doing what I seen other successful people do and post. Duplicating other people content didn’t work for me. I had the quality and everything but It didn’t work. My social media didn’t start growing until I started becoming more transparent. Being authentic is the best way of growing your social media. The idea isn’t to get a whole lot of followers. The goal is to reach people that resonate with who you are. The more people that follow you for just you the better impact your product and business makes.
