We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Hxppycookieworld a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Hxppycookieworld thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
At HXPPYCOOKIEWORLD we do things from the bottom of our hearts with no expectations. While shooting our team photos with a local talented photographer “ hiiikeem “ he told us he had a gift for us. We both looked at each and said “ gift?” . He went up stairs and bought down a box . He handed it to us and said I don’t need it or use it . We both opened the box and it was a brand new mic boom. We both were very grateful and shocked at the same time . We don’t expect anything from our clients but a great experience with us.
This showed us that the hard work we have been putting in for the past 7 months came with hidden rewards . Gems like these really pushed us to keep going .
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Our brand is named the HXPPYCOOKIEWORLD, we support and promote black creatives around the world. We do this by creating content around black creatives that we come across who also meet our qualifications which are QUALITY, VALUE AND CONSISTENCY. If creators are creating high quality content, bringing value/substance to their audience and are consistently doing it, they are the right people for us! We got into the industry when our founder was on tik tok full time and realized that the rooms she was in were full of people that didn’t look like her. She was receiving brand deals because she knew how to build an engaging audience but at the back of her mind she knew that she knew of a plethora of other black creatives that were super talented but were not getting paid. The differential factor was she knew how to build an audience and they didn’t. She decided to take a leap of faith and dedicate herself full time to building an audience that was designed to share a spotlight to other creatives and send an audience to them, eventually helping them with their process of getting funded through sending awareness. We create series that we use to bring awareness to black creatives worldwide, travel and conduct high quality interviews for these creatives, throw physical events and create playlists that make it easier for people to come across our musical/audio creatives. We solve the issue of lack awareness for already talented black creatives. There is not a platform that is dedicated to doing this specific work outside of us on a global scale. We are most proud of the community and relationships that we have been able to build and grow. These are real relationships and now friendships that will span a lifetime with people of all types of backgrounds doing all types of creative works. The main thing we want people to know about us is we are in love with the work we do and genuinely connecting and showing love to other black creatives, the love drives us to continue doing what we do!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
We have built our audience here at HXPPYCOOKIEWORLD with a mix of strategy and testing. Before launching via Instagram we decided to do our research on our target market and find 100 black creatives who meet 3 values that we would want to bring to our audience which is Quality, Value and Consistency. If one of those creatives met those qualities we would reach out to them and ask for their permission to make a video REEL of them that showcased who they were and what they did , now being at a follower account of around 20 or so it was difficult to get replies from creators but every time we got someone we would add them to the list of people we were able to post. The thing we placed the most importance on was creating a reel that the creative would love to gain their trust and follow, we repeated this process for all 100 of those creatives and eventually then extending the collaboration option on the post allowed us to be showcased to their audience, some who ranged from 2k- 100k followers, not to mention this search was done globally. After announcing our HXPPYCOOKIEWORLD Top 100 creatives we spent 26 weeks on taking a deeper dive on some of these creatives and traveled to meet those who were in range, conducting high quality interviews, vlogs and original content, thus deepening our relationships with them. After the 26 weeks was up, we decided to widen our range to gather more reach by allowing a multitude of creatives to also be on the page by creating a series “Black Creatives You Should Know”. With a motto like we have here at the HXPPYCOOKIEWORLD “Resharing is Recaring” we take the time to show love to our black creatives and they return the same by resharing our love for them and others !
For those just beginning their social media presence the advice we would give them is, 1. Do your research and find other accounts that are doing things in your niche. 2. Don’t be afraid to transition and evolve your content and content strategy, the constant process of testing new things can be the reason why you find something that works for you and helps you achieve your goals.
How’d you meet your business partner?
This business does not have a co-founder but we met our team members years prior through a friend of a friend’s recommendation for his acting skills on a film set that the Founder of this company was producing and directing. Through a great experience, we continued to find ways to work together via tik tok and then eventually then together on joining forces to build the HXPPYCOOKIEWORLD.
