We recently connected with Hunter Yowell and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Hunter, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I have many meaningful projects that I have enjoyed working on. Projects that go from paid commission work to personal fun filled art projects. The most meaningful art projects that I have worked on are the ones that I can really truly express myself with. I love to explore nature by painting butterflies, colorful beach scenes, and flowers. I love that I am able to incorporate this into my art. It can really bring the art to life, especially if you incorporate nature with portraits (which I love doing!). If I am being truly honest, all projects that I have the opportunity to work on have meaning to me especially when I receive a commission. I love being able to work on commission work knowing that the client chose me and that they loved my work from the get go, if that is not motivation to work hard and love what I do then I don’t know what is!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello, My name is Hunter Yowell and I am a fine artist who moved from Missouri to Central Florida to explore my art career. I am a self-taught artist and I have been creating art for a majority of my life! I knew from the start that I wanted my art to make a positive impact on people so, I decided to create an Instagram account (@thecolorpopartist) just for my art and I began posting regularly. I have had a lot of creative influence from my mother who is a professional graphic designer and my high school art teacher who to this day, I still keep in contact with!
I absolutely love being an artist. I love being able to wake up and create everyday. I do mostly painting, but I have a strength in drawing as well. I mostly try to experiment with every medium you can name. I work on commission artwork for people along with my everyday art style in which people can purchase as well!
I am very different (as we all are), there are a lot of things that set me apart from others but the thing that does that the most is my personality and how I incorporate it into my art. I try to take all of the things I love and incorporate it into my art which makes it extremely meaningful to me. I experiment with all sorts of colors and mediums and I love to make art that can make people smile. Everyday, I am experimenting and trying to find new ways to express myself with my art. Bringing my personality to life through my art is extremely important because that is what makes me different from others.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The fact that I get to be an artist and be creative everyday is the most rewarding. I get to wake up everyday and make something new. Most importantly, it gives me motivation, which is important if you want to be successful especially if you want to be an artist.
: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My biggest goal was and still is to be the best possible version of myself that I can be. Staying true to myself also without losing myself is what truly drives me. I think about all of the people who support me every single day and how their encouragement helps me thrive.
