We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Hunter Turner. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Hunter below.
Hunter, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
From state of the art sound systems, professional software to expensive lighting and all the way down to each cord this line of work ain’t cheap & starting GCPP was nothing short of a big financial risk. I started small in 2019 with whatever gear I could afford (which was not the best) and as I grew I invested all I had into this company, each check that came in went right back into new gear for the company. Year after year just building my inventory and my show ability but not my bank account.. Now I can say heading into year 6 it’s paying off, we have an overflowing schedule for both the 2024 & 2025 wedding seasons & we’ve grown tremendously!! Take the risk if you’re willing to work for it day in and day out, you can try anything but if you don’t give your max effort as well as attention you will come up short of your goals every time!
Hunter, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

How did you build your audience on social media?
So the secret on how GCPP has built such a large following of just a small business is simple really.. Sponsor little league teams and coach them, this builds respect as well as connections with dozens of parents/family members. You also now have 12-14 kids running around all summer and into the next school year with your logo on their favorite shirt!! The next thing would be building relationships, get in a local networking group and meet other small business owners, from here you have people to go to for advice as well as the whole town spreading the word about your business! Building relationships with clients past & future is a must, many say word of mouth is dead but we completely disagree. You must first earn the trust of your clients then go do the work & do a darn good job, from there you have a client that will tag, share and review your company forever! Lastly, you must run a clean cut social media, learn the ways of the word wide web and utilizes them. We live in a age of entertainment so to keep followers, to keep the likes and new followers coming in you must post likable eye catching content!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
There will be times where you hit major bumps in the road, scary times even.. You must push on and get the job done regardless of circumstances! At Hunters first ever wedding DJing gig mid party one of the guest overdosed on something nobody knew he was on. The groom was able to give CPR to give the ambulance more time to get there, the guy did end up being ok but put me in a tight spot at my first ever wedding. Obviously it was hard to get the crowd going after an event like that so I said a prayer that I’m still not sure how I said so beautifully (first time praying in public) and we closed out the evening a little early. That was a tough spot I was thrown in but kept my head and the show went, no matter then circumstance you have to do the job. This is just one of many hiccups I’ve encountered in the past 5 years but sticks out the most in my mind.
