We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Hunter Cohen. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Hunter below.
Hunter, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you walk us through some of the key steps that allowed you move beyond an idea and actually launch?
When I first thought about transitioning from music photography to fashion editorials, the biggest challenge was simply starting. My mind often races with a million ideas, making that initial step feel like the hardest part. I had this vision of creating a Gucci photoshoot and instead of getting lost in overthinking, I decided to dive in and make it happen as fast as possible.
I called up a few friends, and within a single day, we turned the idea into reality. We shot at my friend Casie’s apartment complex in Echo Park, which has this perfect mid-century modern vibe. Casie, Taylor, and June took on the styling and modeled for the shoot. Casie & Taylor worked together for Creative Direction and June worked on Hair & Makeup. Our goal was to capture something that screamed Gucci—bold, vibrant, and unapologetically extravagant—and I believe we absolutely achieved that.
The technical side was just as exciting. I shot with my Sony A7III (with a dead pixel) using a Godox V860III Speedlight, a Godox X2 wireless trigger, and a Neewer 35-inch softbox mounted on a C-Stand. The entire setup was tethered to my iPad Pro with Capture One via a Tether Tools cable, allowing us to fine-tune every detail in real-time.
What stands out most about this project is how authentic it feels to me. The final images are daring, vibrant, and capture my essence as a photographer. It wasn’t just about creating beautiful photos—it was about experimenting, having fun, and pushing my personal boundaries as a creative.
This project sparked something inside me, reigniting my passion for creating with the hope of one day seeing my work on a magazine cover. I’m not interested in being just another photographer—I’m here to tell stories, make statements, and create work that leaves an impression.

Hunter, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Hunter Cohen, and I’m a professional photographer based in Los Angeles, California. Originally from a small town in New Jersey, I grew up exploring New York City and Philadelphia, and those gritty, urban vibes have had a huge influence on my work. I love infusing an edgy, bold energy into everything I create.
I started my journey in wedding photography and videography before transitioning to music photography, which led me to move to LA in March 2021. That move allowed me to live out my childhood dream of being a tour photographer and videographer, working with so many incredible artists. Now, fashion, lifestyle, and editorial photography shooting brand campaigns and creative projects.
I’m passionate about trying new things and experimenting to discover what I truly love. I believe it’s essential as a creative to explore, make mistakes, and figure out what resonates—and what doesn’t. Versatility is key.
Having been full-time freelance for several years, I feel incredibly grateful to wake up every day and create. Photography isn’t just a job for me; it’s a way to tell stories, capture emotion, and continuously grow as an artist.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding part of being a creative is that I get to play. It might sound simple, but there’s something so fulfilling about experimenting and bringing ideas to life—turning something that only existed in my mind into reality, no matter how big or small.
Art is art, and the process of creation is incredibly fun and inspiring. I’m a huge believer in trusting your gut and following what excites you creatively. Time and time again, I’ve seen that approach lead to amazing outcomes. One of the most powerful moments as an artist is looking back at something I’ve created—sometimes on my own, sometimes with a team—and realizing, I made this happen.
Being a creative is such a blessing. While self-belief can be tough at times, it’s the foundation of everything I do. I’m just so grateful for the journey so far and can’t wait to see where it leads next.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Making money on the internet used to feel like a pipe dream. I distinctly remember my dad saying, “You can’t make money on the internet,” when I was younger and now, here we are in a world where it’s a cornerstone of so many industries. For me, word of mouth and Instagram have become my primary tools for attracting new clients.
I’ve found that delivering high-quality work, maintaining a strong work ethic, and being approachable with a positive, outgoing energy are key. These values not only help me make a great first impression but also encourage clients to return. I’m incredibly grateful to every client I’ve ever had—each one has helped me grow and build the career I’m so passionate about today.
Building genuine connections and creating meaningful work has been instrumental in growing my business and establishing lasting relationships.
