We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Hugo Heredia Barrera a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Hugo thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission the drives your brand?
I wanted to have a space where I can create, fabricate and design projects that can go to residential, commercial, architectural or industrial places using any type of material from metal, glass, wood, cement or a blend of all of them. Projects can vary from art installations, sculptures or just simply residential gates or doors.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
HB Punto Experimental Gallery & Studio Fine Art – Architectural Glass & Metal – Metal Fabrication – Welding Services – Glass Services HB Punto Experimental started as an art studio where I design and create sculptures, art installations and art projects that have been exhibited in fine art galleries and art festivals. But in the last two years I decided to apply the same concepts of creativity and design to more accessible, unique functional projects for residential, commercial, architecture and industrial purposes. At HB Punto Experimental, creativity is the main element that is applied to all my projects. My aim is to incorporate artistic concepts into commercial spaces such as restaurants and bars, as well as private homes. My studio is a place for metal fabrications of any kind, from simple fabricated metal gates, metal doors, staircases, to regular window glass, stained glass, hot glass and projects with a blend of different materials such as wood, cement, etc. I create and design a wide range of projects, from simple to complex. HB Punto Experimental Gallery and Studio is not just a metal fabrication and welding space, it is a space for modern design and art concepts.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best sources of new clients for my business have been my website and my social media connections in the architectural, residential and commercial industry. I have also acquired many of my clients through referrals. Most of these clients usually contact me for one small project and then this leads to more and larger projects.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
For the initial funding for my business I used some of my savings and money that I got from my art projects. This initial funding was critical to purchase initial equipment and to secure my space. As my business grew, I slowly started re-directing funds from my gains to start purchasing more machinery and tools.
