We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Hudrell Jones a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Hudrell, thanks for joining us today. Looking back, what’s an important lesson you learned at a prior job?
The importance of staying focused on achievable goals and setting benchmarks to measure the increments.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I was approached by writer and director, Benet Embry, regarding another movie project that I had invested in. The title of the movie is “Love Torn Between Two”, which earned two awards for Best Indie Movie of 2022. I’ve always enjoyed the entertainment business, and I like to bring creativity to life which is what drew me to this industry. I had long been involved for over ten years in the music industry with my company, HMH Entertainment. I put on shows and concerts around all of the East Texas area- names like GloRilla, Big Boogie, Plies, Lil Boozy “Boozy Badazz”, just to name a few. I offer tee-shirts, caps, and all standard common apparel to our potential customers and clients. What sets me apart from others is that I believe in giving people opportunities to reach their goals and their dreams. I am most proud of how successful I currently am; I own various other companies and I enjoy working with others who help my businesses thrive even more. I want my followers to know that I have a good judgement of character of others, I believe in standards, and I hold myself to higher standards when it comes to me achieving my goals.
Have you ever had to pivot?
When I first started in the entertainment industry, I had multiple artists, but at the time, I didn’t understand the ego’s that came with managing multiple musical entertainers. When I changed my focus to one, I was able to make strides and achieve the goals and outcomes they were looking for. I was no longer wasting money and time on things that did not have a positive result.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I saved my money and invested it into other start-up companies. I then took the revenue from that and started investing it into Clearwater Productions. I made several sacrifices in order to achieve my goal. I endured long sleepless nights reaching out to different connections and truly believing in myself and those associated with me and the vision of this company.
