We recently connected with Huangxu Yi and have shared our conversation below.
Huangxu, appreciate you joining us today. Can you walk us through some of the key steps that allowed you move beyond an idea and actually launch?
I had an idea about circles and infinity. This concept deeply fascinated me because I felt that they symbolized the infinite potential and resilience of the human spirit.
So, I began my journey of exploration. The first step was to search for various related information, delving into the symbolic meanings of circles and infinity and their applications in art history. This process took me several days, during which I read numerous books and articles and engaged in discussions with some artists and scholars.
After clarifying these concepts, I started thinking about how to transform this idea into a tangible art form. Sculpture gradually emerged in my mind as the ideal medium because I believed that sculpture could not only showcase the visual beauty of circles but also convey the profound meaning of infinity. I decided to use iron as the material because it is not only hard but also symbolizes the unyielding spirit of humanity.
Having determined these aspects, I began with the initial design work. I spent a week drawing sketches, conceptualizing various possible shapes and structures. Then, I created a small model to ensure that the design was feasible in practice. Although the model was small, it gave me great confidence and inspiration.
Next, I moved on to the most crucial step: creating the full-sized sculpture. I spent a month, dedicating a significant amount of energy and resources, and finally completed the iron sculpture with a diameter of 1.6 meters. When it stood before me, I felt immense excitement and satisfaction.
Throughout this process, I was not just an artist but also a researcher, designer, and craftsman. I learned a lot about materials and structures and experienced the challenges and joys of turning an abstract idea into a concrete work of art.

Huangxu, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a multimedia artist specializing in photography, sculpture, and sound. My practice into the world of art began primarily with photography. As I delved deeper into the craft, I realized that creating art was not just about capturing images but also about expressing and exploring societal and life issues. Art became a powerful medium for me to bring visibility to these themes and provoke thought and dialogue.
Over time, my artistic endeavors expanded beyond photography to include sculpture and sound, allowing me to push the boundaries of my creativity further. I find immense joy and fulfillment in the process of creating art, constantly challenging myself to explore new forms and techniques.
In terms of the work I provide, my portfolio is diverse. My photography often captures the essence of human experiences and societal issues, aiming to evoke empathy and understanding. My sculptures, typically made from iron, symbolize the resilience and unyielding spirit of humanity. Meanwhile, my sound installations create immersive environments that engage audiences on a sensory level, prompting them to reflect on the themes presented.
What sets me apart in my field is my interdisciplinary approach and my commitment to addressing meaningful topics through my art. I strive to create pieces that not only showcase aesthetic beauty but also convey deep, thought-provoking messages about our life.
I am most proud of my ability to connect with people through my art and to inspire them to see the world from different perspectives. For potential clients, followers, and fans, I want them to know that my work is driven by a passion for pushing creative boundaries and a dedication to making a positive impact through art. My brand is built on the principles of innovation, resilience, and the power of artistic expression to foster awareness and change.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The support for me to make art is encouraging deeper reflection on the difficulties we face in life and the significance of our existence. Through my art, I aim to provoke thought and inspire conversations about the challenges that shape our human experience. I believe that by confronting and contemplating these difficulties, we can find strength, resilience, and a deeper understanding of our purpose.
The meaning of existence is a complex and multifaceted concept. I strive to explore this through my work, delving into themes such as identity, connection, and the human condition. By presenting these ideas in various forms—whether through the stillness of photography, the solidity of sculpture, or the immersion of sound—I seek to create moments of introspection for my audience.
Ultimately, my mission is to use art as a catalyst for personal and collective growth. I want people to see beyond the surface of their daily lives, to question, to feel, and to discover new perspectives on what it means to be human.

How’d you meet your business partner?
I often meet my co-founders and business partners at various art exhibitions and events. These settings provide the perfect opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who share a passion for creativity and artistic expression.
One memorable encounter was at a contemporary art exhibition two years ago. I was drawn to a photo installation that resonated deeply with my own artistic vision. As I stood there, contemplating the work, I struck up a conversation with another attendee who seemed equally captivated. We quickly discovered that we had similar interests and complementary skills.
The artist is making fruit portraits related to the LGBQ community, which has greatly piqued my interest. We spent hours discussing the themes and techniques of the exhibited works, sharing our own experiences and aspirations in the art world. This initial connection blossomed into a strong professional relationship, as we realized that our combined talents and perspectives could lead to unique and innovative projects.
Since then, we have collaborated on photo project, strengthening our partnership and pushing the boundaries of our creative endeavors. These meetings at art exhibitions have proven to be invaluable, as they bring together individuals who are not only passionate about art but also eager to explore new possibilities and make meaningful contributions to the field.
