We recently connected with Huan Zhou and have shared our conversation below.
Huan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Have you signed with an agent or manager? Why or why not?
I am a professional model. In 2014, I was selected by my university to participate in the “Pechoin 20th China Model Star Contest” in Beijing. During the event, I was fortunate to meet Chinese scout agent Jeffery and American scout agent Tracy. They both chose me with great confidence, giving me the opportunity to enter the fashion industry. They were very professional, and when I first became a professional model and knew nothing, they helped by selecting high-quality castings for me.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
When I first left China to travel to other countries, my modeling career truly began. Each day, I would receive the schedule for the following day, which included finding addresses and meeting with designers. It was like an interview, where they would select clothing that matched my image. The most memorable experience was working with Rihanna on her Fenty Beauty campaign. At that time, she had just launched the brand, and I was fortunate to be the only Asian model involved. My petite East Asian features combined with Western makeup helped expand the brand into the Asian market.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I often go to Europe to attend fashion weeks. I remember that every time I arrived in a city, I had no time to adjust to the time difference. I had to go to many castings the next day. The emails sent by the agent only contained addresses and brands. Regardless of whether it was my first time in a city, I needed to quickly familiarize myself with the transportation here. I used them to find each address, just like a courier. After a week, I had to go to other cities and repeat these steps. It was like a dream, waking up in another strange city, and there was no extra time for you to get familiar with it. At most one day. But I persisted in this way for many years.

How did you build your audience on social media?
First of all, you need to know what you are suitable for. For example, I am born to be a model and the fashion industry. My height and figure are standard for this industry. Of course, I know and confirm it myself. Secondly, you need to frequently update things about your industry on the social network Feiti. For example, dressing, catwalks, and flat shooting. If you persist in doing this for a long time, you will get a reply within a certain period of time.
