We recently connected with Hsin-Yun(Cindy) Tu and have shared our conversation below.
Hsin-Yun(Cindy), looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We love heartwarming stories – do you have a heartwarming story from your career to share?
Hand Shaking Grandma We have a patient who has suffered wind-stroke for many years, she cannot control her body well after the wind-stroke, her hands kept shaking, her feet cannot walk well and her body movement was slow. Her grandson / granddaughter all called her – “Hand Shaking Grandma”.
We did acupuncture treatments for her, the treatment programs took for couple of months and she was a good patient to follow up the plan and come to take the acupuncture treatments in the clinic as needed.
One day in her family gathering, her granddaughter suddenly said : grandma’s hands were not shaking anymore and all the family members were also very surprised and impressed of grandma’s recovered result.
This heartwarming story is a very good case for sharing that acupuncture could be an alternative treatment to cooperate with Western treatment for some diseases, like: wind-stroke, pain syndrome, in-fertility, allergy, cancer recovering…etc, with the less side effects to patients.
Hsin-Yun(Cindy), love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
“My mother started learning acupuncture when I was in high school and used my brother and me as practice subjects many times, which made us both love and hate acupuncture at the time. As we grew up, we realized that the techniques my mother learned had a rapid effect on pain management and gynecological diseases, deepening our understanding of Chinese medicine.
In fact, I majored in journalism during my undergraduate studies in Taiwan and worked in the news media industry for about 4 years. During this time, I began to wonder if I was meant to be an editor. That’s when I found out about the THSU president’s seminar in Taiwan, which sparked my interest in attending a Chinese medicine school overseas.
It has been more than 7 years since I graduated from the school in 2017 and received my Texas Acupuncture license. Over these years, I have encountered many patients who were given up by Western medicine or rejected medication. Initially, many of these patients approached acupuncture with mistrust or despair. However, they eventually became loyal fans of acupuncture and gained confidence in its effectiveness. This is the greatest reward and sense of fulfillment for me after each treatment. I am very proud of this technique and will continue to practice it until I am physically unable to do so.”
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
As our goal is to help people who could have the alternative treatments besides the Western Medical treatments with less side effects and more nature ways.
There are more and more good successful case studies in Taiwan / China, which Western Medical treatments and Traditional Medical treatments work together to provide the treatments to the same patient and had a very good treatment results than before.
If Western Medical doctors and Chinese Medical doctors could know more of each other of how/what they treated to the patient and cooperate together to make the treatment plan, that will bring a better life quality to patients and also patient’s family and that is what we thought/our goal to build our reputation within the Medical market to help people.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Win-Win to everyone, that is the major principle of our team management. Not just good profit sharing to the teams but also we shared some good case studies to each other, encouraged team members to keep doing/attending more continued education programs and seminars etc… to keep growing the acupuncture professional knowledge.
We also do good of managing clinic’s operation, so we could give the best supports to both our practitioners and also patients, that provided the best supports to them when needed, like: we do the insurance billing by ourself, we have the insurance knowledge, so we could answer the major insurance questions to patients, when they need to check of their insurance benefits.
We also do the insurance billing by ourself, so we could control to submit the claims at the earliest time or at the right timing,
