Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Hope Searcy . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Hope thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Taking a Risk requires your Faith. I worked in 7 hair salons before I opened my own. I believe when I gave God my YES to become a business owner it required me trusting he told me and that I heard him right then my Faith that he will see me through what you spoke. The first 3 years of opening my hair salon I worked my vision by myself. Now first I had a full staff. The salon was thriving and everyone was like family. Three months later of a 3 year contract I signed to lease the building everyone who started out with me was gone. At that moment I questioned myself did I hear God right. At that moment I had to trust God and activate my Faith that this going to workout in my favor. I couldn’t lean to my own understanding because my mind was everywhere.
Fast forward 8 years later I’m still opened and now have a second location in Dalton Ga.
I want to inspire the reader who’s reading this stay in encourage, stay motivated, stay positive, stay listening to the voice of God if he ever promised or spoke something to you rest assure he will provide for you. Take the risk and trust God…..
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am Hope. Growing up I hated my name I got picked on so much. As I reached my older and mature age I realized I am Hope to many people. Rather it’s my smile or being behind my chair giving the hair services. My slogan is “If your hair a mess Find Hope” funny but true. I use my gift as not just making women look beautiful I use it to bring what’s inside of them out. The name of my salon is called Anointed Hands Hair Salon. It’s truly a gift from God and I use my ministry to encourage every person that sits in my chair that their is greatest inside of them. My salon is not a normal salon, no latest gossip, no foul language, when you walk in you feel the presence of God. Have many clients tell me they were healed just being in the salon. I’m forever grateful to who’s reading this may this empower you do go out and do great things…. Now I started a free mentorship for your girls who have the passion to become hairstylist. I always wanted to be and offer something I didn’t have when I was growing up. I use my gift and platform to empower our younger generation….
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Wow this a awesome question. You must be courageous, committed and confident. I teach my mentees this. Nothing in life is given to you sometimes you must create the opportunity. Then when opportunities presents itself to you, you must be prepared to cease your moment. When I first started doing hair I had no clientele i position myself to get them. When the salon open I was there until it closed. Many never position themselves to receive what they are asking for. Being in the hair industry over 27years now I see so much everyone wants to start on top but never in position. I encourage the reader be prepared for what you asking for your moment may show up and you not in position…..
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy to growing a clientele is treat them the way you want to be treated. I live by this saying in every area of my life. *Clients don’t have time to sit in the salon 5and 6 hours for a hairstyle poor management of scheduling on the stylist behalf.
* Clients should not be subjected to seeing their hairstylist hair not done. We are a walking brand of what we represent…
First impressions last forever. I believe that’s why many opportunities have came my way is I present myself as how I wanted to be treated. You have seen my work on Bravo, MTV, and other prestige people.
Can I tell you this they were all off referrals. This how you grow your name and business and clientele…. Received this advice readers and watch your business grow…
