We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Hope Reid. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Hope below.
Hope, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, let’s start with a hypothetical – what would you change about the educational system?
When it comes to the educational system something that I would change would be the information that is given to us and taught to a growing mind. In my opinion I feel as if the things that students should be taught are things that are essential to everyday life beyond the classroom. Things that’ll help you grow as an individual instead of taking one perspective and teaching it to a variety of different personalities. Allowing the minds to think outside of a narrative written for particulars. Preparing students for a fulfilling life and career can be as simple as teaching them to believe in themselves and knowing that others believe in them too. Also the thought of “shooting for the stars and the possibilities are endless” having a lot more focus and emphasis adds more confidence behind the force that’s driven for them. Helping them to see that being themselves, loving all of what they do makes the journey that much easier and work no longer seems like work.
Hope, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m originally from Poughkeepsie, NY. I moved to California in 2009. Growing up I’ve always been a creative sort of speaking, in my own way I’ve always found things that I wanted to alter, change or mold to a vision I had. I found joy in that, also felt it was a way of expression, an inside look at who you are as a person. As I got older I never lost the creative side to myself but it just continued to grow. The creativity in me was never left to one thing in particular I found myself venturing into any and everything. Along one of my many ventures, which was music, I came to a road block due to the need of photos and creative visuals for promotion, my image, etc.. so I took it upon myself to learn and do the work myself which unlocked something in me that I didn’t knew existed. That was when I realized that I had a love for photography… it allowed me to express, create and see my visions come to life.
Within my field I don’t allow myself to place limits on what I can or can’t do nor what I’m willing to learn when it comes to my craft. I provide high quality photos for models, businesses, families, maternity photos, pets, events etc. I also edit my own photos as well.
I like to let my clients know that I’m willing to go above and beyond to help their vision come to life. Even in the event that the budget or limited supplies may be of an issue. That’s one of the few things that I feel separates me from others, but mainly my work ethic, and versatility.
What I’m mostly proud of is the journey and accomplishments along the way. Being self taught and putting an immense amount of effort to be where I’m at today. To highlight one of the things I feel most proud of is being published in a variety of magazines here in the US and other countries as well. I set a goal and exceeded beyond my expectations.
To my followers fans and potential clients I would like for them to know that me and my brand not only represents me a a person but it also represents them. The quality of work that I’m willing to provide the quality of work that they would like to receive and the effort that goes into making them happy satisfied and more then happy to return not just as a customer but a friend.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
My most effective strategy that I’ve been using to grow my clientele has been giving my clients what it is that I would like to receive. Putting in the same effort no matter the size of the job and being driven by the expression of gratitude from each and every individual that I work with. I’d rather over achieved and underachieve.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I think for the most part non-creatives Struggle with understanding that there is no rules or guidelines to creativity. It’s a vision and as a creative we take your vision and enhance it or paint that picture the way that you seen it. There isn’t a blueprint or study guide to what we produce, sometimes you can get it on the first go around and sometimes you have to revision. Although what you are given or shown is not your vision you have to understand this is someone else’s vision and it might be the way that they see things and that is something you can’t knock
