Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Hope Conley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hope, appreciate you joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
Going into college I had my mind set on being an athletic trainer, but very quickly I realized my heart wasn’t in it so I dropped out. With the idea to try new things and see what I liked, I had at least 5 jobs until I started doing makeup.
After my first client, I instantly fell in love with the way it made me feel. The more faces I did, the deeper my desire to know more grew. So I searched makeup programs and came across some aesthetic courses.
Six long, beautiful, life changing months later I graduated and within the month I was licensed. Thankfully with the support of my mom and family, I was able to start Elite Esthetics immediately.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
My name is Hope Conley. I’m a Licensed Aesthetician from a small town outside of Jackson, TN. I come from a very big family who’s love, encouragement and support made me a lot of the woman I am today. I love movies, spending time with my folks & all things skincare.
Elite Esthetics was started with one goal in mind; helping others to feel their most beautiful in their natural skin. It was and still is my dream that God can guide me through my business to touch as many lives as possible in a positive way in such a cruel world.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Unexpectedly, I love waxing just as much as I loved skincare when I first started my aesthetic program.
It was my first time performing a Brazilian wax on another student. She knew it was my first time and reassured me she could handle it. Not even a quarter of the way through it, she clearly let me and everyone else in the room know it was the worst experience of her life.
Her reaction killed my confidence in waxing so much, I had plans to do no more than underarm and facial waxing post graduation. Luckily my instructor talked to me and convinced me to keep practicing. It was so scary for some time because I couldn’t get the way she complained out of my head.
Thankfully I can report that my first ever Brazilian wax client with Elite Esthetics stuck it out with me and is still a client to this day. I promised myself I’d get better and prove my doubt wrong. Now Brazilian waxing is my most scheduled service.
