Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Honey The Model. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Honey, thanks for joining us today. Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
With me being a nontraditional model, my height and weight has caused issues. I’ve met with some designers that cater to all sizes and some that only work with taller/thinner models. I’m more on the medium height and curvy side of Fashion.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
As stated in a previous interview, I started my modeling journey as a teenager. Im a nontraditional model. That’s means , I’m not 6ft tall and a size 2. I also have adult tibia vara from Blounts Disease as a child. I let my confidence, passion, creativity and ability to not give up carry me. My children are watching me and I have a duty to show them that you can be whatever you want in life. They are the reason why I keep pushing, despite what others might think or say. Along with the strength of God.After marrying at the age 18 and having my son at 19, everything came to a halt. I watched top model when I was with child, wishing that I have never just stopped. Shorty after my son, I had a daughter and family life took over. Over the past 5 years, I was inspired by an ex to start my passion back. He’s a local rap artist and we had alot of things we were going to collaborate on. I havent given up. I’ve participated in model calls , fashion shows, photo shoot sessions, Brand Ambassador positions also with XS , Engergy *Sean Felder*, Habits New York, Anew Skincare, Memphis Bouidor,Curvy Girl Calendar, Fashion Illustrated Magazine, and local photography collaborations. Winning model of the month a few times and 3rd runner up model of the year 2024 with Sean Felder of XS Energy.

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
My creativity isn’t just for a certain crowd. It’s for anyone that can relate to my talent/creativity. I never let what people think that I can’t or shouldn’t be doing stop me. I cater to the ones who think that they can’t “My honeybees”. I get lost in my work at times.I also write poetry. Oh and I also sing. I’m in the process of creating merchandise to brand. Whatever you put you mind to. You can do it. What you think up and do, will exist. Im on a journey to better my health and wealth.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I’ve had many trials in life during this journey that I thought would break me. It gave me more power mentally and emotionally.
Back to modeling. For every no there’s a yes. I gotten rejections from model calls, and competitions. One specifically was a urban/street wear model call by a local designer last summer. I had full blown anxiety when I atttended that call. A model/coach, I’ll call Karrot Top, come to me with guidance and expert advice pertaining to auditioning. Although I didn’t get a call back, that was ok because I did my best. The no’s make me go twice as hard in the industry. In fact its helped me build more resilience for myself.
