We were lucky to catch up with Honee recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Honee, thanks for joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
Creating digital content always came naturally to me. I used to make parody song videos with my family members for fun. I would burn video edits to CDs and turn them in as school projects. I started seriously getting into making content when I started my YouTube Channel “Honeeology” in 2021. I learned how to edit my videos from what I like to call “Youtube University” Anything that came to my mind I achieved it through hours of research and trial and error. To speed up my learning process I think I could have gotten a morning job. Oddly as it sounds a lot of the time I spent learning new things had to be worked around my work schedule. The most essential skill I learned was planning. Planning is essential in ANY project you do. And having a good plan will always lead to good execution. One obstacle that stood in the way of learning more was bad time management. I’m getting better day by day. Its a uphill battle I’m determined to conquer
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Honee, the Creator of Honeeology. My YouTube channel is curated for quirky girls who love art, creating content, fashion, and self-care. I first got into YouTube because I started tapping into my hobbies and interests after a really bad breakup. For a moment I lost myself. And once I started focusing on my YouTube it felt like I was whole again. I also Strategize content for various clients. I help them come up with unique content Ideas that fit their brand and wow their target Audience. My unique way of displaying content is what sets me apart from other creators. I always want to know how can I display my message differently.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Yes. I want to understand myself and embrace her 100% with ZERO shame. For a very long time, I focused on helping others and it drained me. Sometimes I still do. But when I create content it feels like a form of self-care. My YouTube is a manifestation of my confidence and individuality.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Crazy you ask this question… Because right now! I used to take on multiple clients strategizing, editing, and scheduling content and it got in the way of my own Channel and I didn’t post on there for a VERY long time. I appreciate the time I did take away from it because it helped me grow as a creator. But having to constantly provide for another’s dream when mine wasn’t fully developed wasn’t something I could 100% commit to. So now I am putting that same energy into Me! I still provide content strategy and graphic design because I can balance that and my content.
