Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Honcho Jue. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Honcho, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’ve love to hear an interesting investment story – what was one of the best or worst investments you’ve made? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
I think my best investment as far as time is being in the studio, learning & listening from day 1 by far. So many connections can be made through a studio just by being there period. Had to sacrifice plenty of time, sleep, fun & couple relationships to really be in the studio to work on my craft as a up and coming music producer & engineer. And my best investment as far as money i would say my computer. I don’t do nothing else with it but make beats on Fl Studio. The first time i’ve seen the program on my cousin’s “TttheCartel” mom computer when i was probably around age 12/13, it changed my life since. Almost Everyday for years, he showed me whatever he learned on his moms computer until i got my own at 16. Had to sacrifice time to fully learn & understand how I wanted things to sound in my own way & sound good. Since then, worked on Fl Studio 10 & got better by day & haven’t stopped now that I’m at the age of 22. If you want to start producing & thinking about getting a good priced computer, don’t hesitate, probably be one of your best investments in your life.
Honcho, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve been around my music all my life, so I feel like being a music producer slowly but surely chose me by the universe. Most of all my childhood, I grew up in church in the choir with my family. After service, me & my cousins & brother would play on the instruments. Usually I would be on the drums, TtheCartel would be on piano, and my brother OC would rap just for the fun trying to make songs & beats on the spot. It made so much since that i took producing seriously when i started to see other producers becoming wealthy & being bosses of your own labor. Southside & 808 mafia was a big inspiration to me because they had everything I wanted when i was younger. Beats was hard, had the jewelry, money, fashion, just the lifestyle that anyone would want if they was young & want to be rich. Watched them everyday and studied the sounds along w/ Metro Boomin & TM88 and other producers but those were the main ones. What sets me apart from everyone else is my sound is genuine & conveys me as a feeling through waves, that touches you differently than words. I feel like my music is a representation of myself because i put so much heart & soul, my experiences & timing to my music as i do myself, & i think it represents it perfectly. I pride myself on being genuine & being truthful to my artists, producers, family, whoever around me.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Being in your own state of mind, & being in control of & making a profit out of your business. It gets taken for granted, but for the most part, you can never lose when owning, knowing & having complete control of your own business. You the only person you have to answer to.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My plan & goal longterm is to keep learning, stay grounded, motivated & consistent as possible, and financially secure to were my family doesn’t have to work ever and not stress & relax, & take control of want can be fixed in my life that can make me a better overall person.
