We recently connected with Holly Wilson and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Holly, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Sharing the work of indie authors has easily been the most meaningful project of mine. For example, I’ve read multiple advanced copies of books written by Noelle Bensen and each time I share my thoughts with my followers. Along with a photo showcasing her work. It brings me so much joy to share lesser known authors with my followers because I see how hard these authors are working to get their books out into the world. And when I find a new favorite indie author, I want my followers to see how great they are and love their books just as much as I do.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Holly and I’m a book influencer on Instagram! I started my page in 2021 when I found myself in desperate need of an escape. I was struggling with burnout at my job and turned to my first love: reading. I started sharing my thoughts on books with my fellow readers and my page grew from there. By following my page, I hope you see all of the positivity, fun, and humor I share. If you love romance and thrillers, I’m here to help you find your next favorite read! It’s hard to describe the feeling I get when someone tells me they enjoyed the book I recommend. It brings me so much joy to share my passion with others!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When considering making the jump into content creation or influencing, I think it’s very important to remember that not everyone’s journey and growth will look the same. My biggest takeaway from my own journey is how important it is to forge genuine connection within your community. In my opinion, that alone is more important than any number. To anyone just getting started, I highly recommend showing your followers what goes on “behind the scenes”. People love to see what your interests are outside of your niche and who the person behind the account really is.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
For the sake of full transparency, I have struggled with comparison and self-doubt. It’s easy to fall into the habit of comparing yourself, your content, and your growth to other accounts within your niche. I’m an imperfect human being and I do fall back into these habits from time to time. But to fight that temptation, I believe strongly in the power of positive thinking. I remind myself that my content matters and will resonate with the right person. I also remind myself that not everyone’s journey is the same and I will experience growth in my own time.
