Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Holly Griffin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Holly, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
There are so many ways to be of service whether in beauty or hair. I think one of my favorite projects was helping ahimsa house in Atlanta (a non profit that helps women experiencing domestic abuse, and their pets) by teaching a yoga class for donations. We made them a good bit of money and helped many people. It’s rewarding far more than money, and when I can attend a gender free haircut club through the dress code project , those are also very powerful events. I love any project that helps my community:

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started doing hair 25 years ago in my hometown of Las Vegas, moved to NYC in 2019 To work for bumble and bumble and found a love of fitness classes at Exhale mind body studio. I began working for exhale as well and eventually took a management position in midtown Atlanta at their Loews location. Covid changed everything in fitness so I started over, yet again in the hair industry, so grateful that it was there for me to come back to! I have taught at many studios in Atlanta, the most important to me being Tough Love Yoga in Candler Park where I did my training and built my community. I now do hair at smith Ivey a beautiful bumble and bumble salon in Inman Park, I teach yoga at Dancing Dogs and M3 Yoga and Hot Pilates. My days are busy and never boring. The people I have met on my journey in Atlanta are some of my very favorite in the world.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being a creative is that I get to imagine something and make it happen whether it’s in a yoga sequence or on a head of beautiful hair. I get to be creative at “work” and I love it. It never feels like work. It’s a beautiful thing. The world needs more beautiful things, inside and outward facing. We need to find more beauty and peace in our creative minds and I’m doing that daily.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I have medical struggles that affect me physically including ehlers danlos syndrome and lupus but I teach yoga and create beautiful hair everyday. I try very hard to hone in my yoga practice and sit in a mind over matter mindset much of the time trying not to allow what could be debilitating disorders hinder me from my passions.
