We were lucky to catch up with Hollee White recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hollee, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
My photography stands out through its cinematic, story-driven approach that blends lifestyle and conceptual elements. With a focus on dynamic compositions, warm tones, and natural light, my work evokes deep emotion and connection, whether capturing intimate moments or bold, whimsical concepts. The use of creative props, costumes, and dramatic settings adds a unique, artistic edge, making my portfolio both visually compelling and memorable. I like to incorporate personal touches to each session and love hearing feedback from my clients.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a 29-year-old photographer who started this journey four years ago as a side hustle. At the time, it was just a creative outlet, but it quickly grew into a fulfilling career that I’m incredibly passionate about. What began as an experiment with a camera has turned into a business that allows me to connect with people, tell their stories, and create art that they’ll cherish forever.
As a mom, photography has given me a flexible career that fits into my life beautifully—I can even bring my kids along to some shoots when needed, which makes it all the more meaningful. It’s empowering to know that I can grow my business while being present for my family.
My work is a mix of lifestyle, conceptual, and storytelling photography. Whether I’m capturing families, couples, or creative portraits, my goal is to create images that are full of emotion and personality. I focus on connection, authenticity, and artistic composition. My clients often tell me my work stands out because it feels cinematic and intentional—it’s not just about taking photos; it’s about creating something memorable and unique.
I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built through my photography. Seeing my clients light up when they receive their photos or when they tell me I’ve perfectly captured a moment that means so much to them—that’s what drives me.
For potential clients or followers, I want them to know that my work is all about creating meaningful connections and celebrating individuality. I pour my heart into every session, and I’m always looking to push creative boundaries to make something truly special.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my business and social media presence from the ground up, starting with zero followers and growing it to nearly 800 through consistency, authenticity, and community engagement. Showing up consistently and connecting with my local community has been the most impactful factor in my growth. Whether it’s sharing behind-the-scenes moments, engaging with my audience, or collaborating with others in the area, I’ve focused on building genuine relationships rather than just chasing numbers.
For anyone starting out on social media, my biggest advice is to stay consistent and be authentic. Show up as yourself, share your journey, and let people connect with the real person behind the brand. It’s also important to engage with your community—whether that’s online or in person—and be intentional about adding value. Over time, those small, consistent actions build trust and help your audience grow organically.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been posting regularly in community groups and staying consistent overall. Engaging with my local community has been a game changer, as it allows me to connect with people who value the personal and relatable aspect of my work. By consistently showing up—whether through sharing updates, showcasing my work, or being active in conversations—I’ve been able to build trust and visibility, which naturally leads to word-of-mouth referrals and new opportunities.
