We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Hitta Castro a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hitta, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I would say the meaningful project would be “HittaZone” because thats the first project that me and my cousin “DamnTinoThatsFuego” did together. We were in the studio everyday I mean it felt like we lived at the studio, we were there thinking and creating the project and we finished “HittaZone in a few weeks. that project means a lot to me because I made a song called “Money Back” which is dedicated to my cousin Raul Mata who went by ruga rell. His voice is in the song and he loved that song a few weeks later he sadly passed away due to his heart. It really broke me but I was happy to know I got a piece of him with me forever. I’m so happy that I can hear his voice because we have the recordings from the song. So that is why this project is the most meaningful to me.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
i would say you truly gotta love this and have that goal. because anyone will tell you its a true grind to get where you want to be in the music industry. im proud i have my supporters there a part of this journey with me, so im always saying me and my team did. For all my supporters & team knows we went from navigating the pressures of fame, I had to constantly evolve as an artist while staying authentic to my vision & goals. Through it all, I remained resilient, providing inspiration from my experiences and channeling them into my music. I Humbly say i love everyone who riding with me i love my supporters
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
In this digital age, social media has emerged as a powerful tool, I remember using “AOL” and that was a journey of its one. but now its great for individuals and businesses to connect with their target audience. I started back when “Black Planet” & “Migente” was the biggest social media platform we had. Until “Myspace” came and it was a game changer i learn that as an up an coming artist connecting with your fans is a big part of becoming big in this industry & i took full advantage of that platform and i had a online street team where i had my supporters really go ham on promoting my music and i would give them merch for free and that was the first time ever i got my first 1 million streams on Myspace with my song “Bounce It Low” before streaming was a thing, people was able to put my music on there page and it was my first glimpse of fame. With so many platforms to connect there is no way for you not to capitalize on it. do what you love and push that on all of the platforms there is and stay consistent and always know whats old to you is knew to others so keep pushing your music or product your trying to get out there.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Being able to connect with your fans in a different level is the best reward. When you are on stage and you perform your music and the supporters know your music & you have supporters tel you storys of how my music really helped them thats something so deep and for me the best reward when we do music we want to connect with the millions in the world and when your able to do that its priceless
