We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Hillary Hawkins. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Hillary below.
Alright, Hillary thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
Working as an actress, singer, voice actor, script writer & all around entertainer makes me SOOOOO happy but helping those in need can be equally fulfilling. As a result, I have boldly embraced my share of “regular jobs” from child protective services for the State of New Jersey to interviewing victims of domestic violence for Safe Horizon.
Now I wonder what it would be like to run a 24/7 Actors Anonymous Hotline that actors can call up to get the help that they need, but I recognize it’s a very big plight and I would most definitely need a full-time staff to help me with that one! Especially since I’ll simultaneously be working as a Voice Actor for cartoons and as actress screenwriter producer of “Actors Anonymous Hotline” the series.
Performing is my love and creating is cathartic and enables me to do more of what I love, including producing uplifting, inspiring & eye-opening entertainment while playing characters tailor made for me.

Hillary, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve been in the entertainment industry ever since I was a child actor and have worked with Nickelodeon, Disney, UNICEF and more. Proud to say I was on TV everyday as Host of Nick Jr. and that a short film I wrote, produced and acted in called “Stuck For A Reason” aired on ABC, CBS, NBC & FOX as a part of “African American Short Films.” While I currently spend most of my time writing, producing & starring in “ACTORS ANONYMOUS HOTLINE”, my bread and butter is voice acting.
What sets me apart is my ability to transcend race, age and gender with my voice. Whether you have a taste for an African Accent, African American accent, Latin American accent, Native American accent, Caribbean accent or British accent, I’m your girl! (Or boy!) :) While I certainly work as a young adult female voice talent, I also am booking voice-overs that call for little girl voices, teen girl voices & kid boy voices. I work as a commercial voice talent, cartoons / animation voice actor, ADR Voice Actor, Documentary Narrator & have narrated over 100 audiobooks (mostly spirituality & self-help.) People hire me in English, Spanish, Swahili & languages I didn’t even know I knew how to speak! LOL My foreign language skills, plethora of accents & highly diverse character voices draw clients to me from all over the world… Hillary Hawkins Production: your one-stop shop for young character voices and multicultural sounds.
I love what I do and genuinely seek to make the world a better place with my voice. I believe it’s my faith in God that is opening so many doors.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
HEALING… I really want to heal children, women, actors of all types and genders and really anyone in need of love through the arts. I am known to tell some not so easy to swallow stories that will hopefully give people a better understanding of what certain secret populations that struggle with secret issues have to go through which in turn leads to compassion and hopefully stimulates a dialogue among trusted and caring individuals when the time is right which in turn leads to healing… Check out “Nickelodeon Star Hillary Hawkins Releases MOLESTATION MONOLOGUES” for more on that! Have a sunny day!!!

Have you ever had to pivot?
Maintaining a career as an actress, while being a full-time caseworker was not easy… I passed on opportunities in the arts to help save the children. But then there comes a point when you have to save yourself. I could expand on that but maybe I won’t. I am working on being more concise in my interviews. Lol Have a sunny day!!!
Okay I will say this, to be clear, the pivot came after I decided to put my own oxygen mask on first as my mother would say and decided to pursue my art full-time again. Daddy would take care of me. Despite my big brother telling me “But you have a good job! It’s steady! How are you going to support yourself as an artist?” (Thanks bro for the encouragement!!! LOL) I did ultimately take a leave of absence from social services. (That’s what I call it, a mere “leave of absence”, because in my heart I am still in social services as it’s bleeding out in my art…) I know my family is proud of me that I actually AM able to support myself as an artist, a voice-over artist! Glory to God! Moral of the story, there’s more than one way to effectuate positive change in this world AND never give up on your dreams, cause YOU CAN DO IT!!
